The System Administrator - Tier 1’s role is to ensure proper computer operation so that our client’s end users may accomplish business tasks. This includes receiving, prioritizing, documenting, and actively resolving end user requests for help. Problem resolution may involve the use of diagnostic and help request tracking tools, as well as require that the individual give in-person, hands-on help at the desktop level.


  • Field incoming help requests from end users via both telephone and ticketing system in a courteous and client-service oriented manner.
  • Adequately document tickets, enter work time, and follow ticket closing process.
  • Build rapport and elicit problem details from contacted clients.
  • Prioritize and schedule problems. Escalate problems (when required) to the appropriate person.
  • Record, track, and document all request problem-solving processes, including all successful and unsuccessful decisions made, and actions taken, through to final resolution.
  • Apply diagnostic utilities to aid in troubleshooting.
  • Identify and learn appropriate software and hardware used and supported by the client organizations.
  • Perform post-resolution follow-ups to help requests.
  • Develop help sheets and frequently asked questions lists for end users.
  • Evaluate documented resolutions and analyze trends for ways to prevent future problems.

Do you possess the following knowledge and experience?

  • Knowledge of basic computer hardware, including PC’s, thin clients, servers, and printers.
  • Experience with desktop and server operating systems, including Windows 7 - 10 Apple OSX and Windows Server. 
  • Working knowledge of a range of diagnostic utilities, antivirus and system cleaners, and Various Network & System Performance Tools.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, with a focus on rapport-building, listening, and questioning skills.
  • Strong documentation skills.

Education & Certifications

  • College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science and/or 3 years equivalent work experience.
  • Certifications not required but highly desirable.
