The Assistant Cook will prepare and plate food. Also he/she will assist in menu planning, ordering, scheduling and helping to plan parties. The Assistant Cook will supervise the wait staff and cook assist when on duty.
Must be able to read, speak, write and follow simple oral and written directions; read and follow recipes and use creativity when seasoning foods. Must have knowledge of various machines and equipment. Must be able to work with older clientele and understand their needs. Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs, stand for prolonged periods of time, bend, squat and reach. Must manage and supervise staff; react professionally and calmly in emergency situations. Must be able to work with chemicals for cleaning purposes. One year’s experience with volume cooking and additional training in food preparation preferred.
--High School education or equivalent.
Nice slacks, blouse or shirt, apron supplied by kitchen (to remain in kitchen), no skid shoes and hair must be restrained and off the shoulders. Fridays and special days attire will be decided by Housing Director and Supervisor.
