The Lead Teacher plays an essential role in the classroom by providing educational, social, and emotional development for all students by following the program standards of Omaha Early Learning Centers, Early Head Start, Sixpence, Nebraska Department of Education, and NAEYC.    


  • Bachelor's Degree REQUIRED
  • A degree in Early Childhood Education/Child Development or related field is preferred, but not required
  • Current Nebraska Teaching Certificate with an endorsement in Early Childhood Education is a plus, but not required
  • One or more years of early childhood experience in a licensed child care program is required
  • Must be at least 18 years of age

Essential Skills 

  • Knowledge of early childhood curriculum
  • Ability to physically interact with children, including the ability to lift up to 50lbs
  • Must be able to supervise assistant teacher and teacher aides
  • Ability to work as part of a team by effectively communicating and problem solving
  • Have current Infant/Toddler First Aid and CPR certification or the willingness to obtain

The Omaha Early Learning Centers, Inc., in partnership with Omaha Public Schools, is a community-based nonprofit organization which operates high-quality early learning programs for low-income children ages birth to three.  Each of these modern facilities occupy their own building on an elementary school campus in one of Omaha’s high-need neighborhoods. The Early Learning Center at Skinner is on the campus of Skinner Magnet in north Omaha, and the Early Learning Center at Gateway is on the campus of Gateway Elementary in south Omaha. A third school, adjacent to Howard Kennedy Elementary in North Omaha, will open in January 2020..

Omaha Early Learning Centers is part of the Nebraska Early Childhood Collaborative family that includes; Educare Lincoln and both Educare Omaha locations.
