Job Description

The Food Service Coordinator is responsible for the planning and production of healthy meals for the children enrolled in the Educare program, supervising the Food Aides and other duties in the food service area.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Planning nutritious menus for breakfast, lunch and snack according to CACFP guidelines.
  • Ensures all required production paper work is complete on all sites for CACFP.
  • Check in all supplies and maintain first in-first out inventory. Complete paperwork required for the CACFP program.
  • Assist with annual nutrition presentation for parents and obtaining parent input in the development of menus.

Education and experience required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Current Driver License, reliable transportation with vehicle current vehicle registration and insurance
  • Training in quantity food preparation.
  • Two or more years of job-related experience or training in institutional or hospital food service department
  • Valid Douglas County Food Handlers card.(willing to obtain)


Essential skills and abilities:

  • Knowledge and ability to assess product quality.
  • Knowledge of sanitation and hygiene.
  • Knowledge and ability to perform tasks independently and give necessary help and direction to other workers.
  • Ability to lift, move and reposition objects and materials, frequently exerting force equal to lifting twenty-five (25) to fifty (50) pounds.

The Omaha Early Learning Centers, Inc., in partnership with Omaha Public Schools, is a community-based nonprofit organization which operates high-quality early learning programs for low-income children ages birth to three. Each of these modern facilities occupy their own building on an elementary school campus in one of Omaha’s high-need neighborhoods. The Early Learning Center at Skinner is on the campus of Skinner Magnet in north Omaha, and the Early Learning Center at Gateway is on the campus of Gateway Elementary in south Omaha. A third school, scheduled to open in 2018, is being built adjacent to Howard Kennedy Elementary in north Omaha.

Omaha Early Learning Centers is part of the Nebraska Early Childhood Collaborative family that includes; Early Childhood Services, Educare Lincoln and both Educare Omaha locations.
