The Omaha Early Learning Centers are high quality Early Childhood Educational Centers that operate year round, Monday-Friday from 7:00 am to 5:30 pm. Omaha Early Learning Centers are seeking an Program Director to manage and coordinate school operations to include communicating with parents, overseeing non-instructional student activities, facilitating student enrollment, scheduling staff, supervising and evaluating non-teaching staff members, planning and implementing daily building operations and overseeing facility issues for the building.  

Major Responsibilities of the Program Director include; 

  • Develop and manage the annual school budget, in collaboration with the site director.
  • Prepares purchase requisitions and assure that the appropriate documentation is maintained for program expenses.
  • Manage student enrollment and eligibility for grant funds.
  • Processing parent fee payments per established procedures.
  • Supervise classified staff members including nurse, administrative assistants, floaters, kitchen staff and custodians.
  • Provide ongoing communication to school community including staff and parents.
  • Monitor student attendance and assure that appropriate contacts are made to parents, community services or staff members to facilitate better attendance.
  • Manage scheduling of staff to ensure proper building and classroom coverage..
  • Manage scheduling of special events and community use of facilities.
  • Monitor inclusion of all required information in children’s files.
  • Provide on-site supervision of maintenance and custodial staff regarding the physical facilities
  • Collaborate with OPS departments on problems/projects related to the school operation.
  • Manage and monitor the safety and security program for the building including oversight for various safety drills.
  • Manage and monitor the point of service, family style dining and CACFP program.
  • Review and revise as necessary, ERSEA procedures annually to ensure compliance with Head Start Performance Standards and accurate representation in Work Plans.

Qualified candidates will have the following;

  • Bachelors Degree in Education, Business, Human Resources or related field.
  • Degree in Education teaching or administration preferred.
  • A minimum of 2 years experience working in an early childhood setting within a center-based environment.
  • Three to five years of experience in business management or educational management preferred.
  • Computer knowledge

The Omaha Early Learning Centers, Inc., in partnership with Omaha Public Schools, is a community-based nonprofit organization which operates high-quality early learning programs for low-income children ages birth to three.  Each of these modern facilities occupy their own building on an elementary school campus in one of Omaha’s high-need neighborhoods. The Early Learning Center at Skinner is on the campus of Skinner Magnet in north Omaha, and the Early Learning Center at Gateway is on the campus of Gateway Elementary in south Omaha. A third school, scheduled to open in 2018, is being built adjacent to Howard Kennedy Elementary in north Omaha.

Omaha Early Learning Centers is part of the Nebraska Early Childhood Collaborative family that also includes; Early Childhood Services, Educare Lincoln and both Educare Omaha locations.
