Job Title:                             Certified Early Childhood Special Education Teacher


Responsible To:                                Director of Education


General Duties:                Design and implement an appropriate instructional program to meet the individual needs of children and families with developmental delays and/or disabilities as identified through the Individualized Family Service Plan and/or Individualized Education Program (IEP) process. The ECSE Certified Teacher follows Nebraska Department of Education (NDE) guidelines for approved preschools including children with and without disabilities.




Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plans curriculum, prepares and carries out lessons and other instructional materials to meet individual needs of students, considering state and school district requirements, physical, emotional and educational levels of development.
  • Creates learning materials geared to each student's learning ability and interest.
  • Works with students to increase motivation, provides consistent reinforcement to learning, continuous assessment of level functioning, and continuous feedback to students for all learning activities.
  • Provides developmental supports, services, and on-going assessments in natural environments for children and their families according to their Individualized Family Service Plan/ Individualized Education Plan (IFSP/IEP). This requires planning for individual and group services which are provided at CRCC.
  • Collaborates with appropriate community resources and medical providers to facilitate services and supports for the child and family. Adapts to and implements changing requirements in Early Childhood Special Education, rules and regulations are updated and reauthorized.
  • Maintains records in accordance with state and federal requirements.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Directly supervises up to five para educators. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems.




Minimum Qualifications:

  • Verification of a valid Nebraska Teaching License with Early Childhood and Special Education endorsement.
  • Able to meet agency’s conditions of employment regarding health status and clearance with the Nebraska Child Abuse/Neglect Central Registry and/or Adult Abuse/Neglect Registry and the Omaha Police Department.
