SUMMARY

Assists in implementing nursing care by performing basic nursing procedures by performing the following duties

The Associate shall support St. James Healthcare goals, and direction of the quality improvement process.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Answers lights, or intercom system to determine patients needs.

Assists patients in activities of daily living.

Carries out delegated components of the nursing process.

Serves and collects food trays and feeds patients requiring help.

Transports patients or assists patients to walk.

Turns and repositions patients, as needed.

Changes bed linens, runs errands, and directs visitors.

Participates in admission/discharge activities

Takes and records routine vital signs, daily weights, food and fluid intake and output, and documents information in a timely manner. Reports age specific variance to appropriate personnel.

Accurately documents the delegated components of the nursing process in a timely manner meeting requirements of the regulating bodies.

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED);

Nurse Aide Skills Checklist

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

C.N.A. Certification required upon hire

BLS required within 60 days after hire

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
