General Room Service Aide Duties
-Deliver patient meal trays and snacks to the bedside.
-Communicate proper procedure for using Room Service to patient.
-Communicate with nursing about patient diet changes.
-Distribute menus to patient.
-Take patient tray and menu to correct nursing unit when they transfer.
-Take and record temperatures of hot and cold food on patient trays.
-Assist patients with menu choices and respond to questions about selections
-Assemble patient food trays, working as part of a Room Service driven production line; places appropriate and correctly portioned menu items, following individual selections. Assigned to work any station in the assembly process.
-Prepares food items for tray assembly, including nourishments and specials accurately.
-Use correct size scoop, ladle or spoodle to ensure portion control.
-Check all food items for quality before serving.
Complete following duties, as assigned, between meal tasks; portioning beverages, "specials", restocking stations, setting up assigned work station, lining trays with mats, sorting and wrapping silverware.
-Order par stock for floor kitchen and put it away.
-Communicate with call center or dietitians in regard to patient's meal needs.
-Pick-up and return dirty trays to the soiled utility room.
-Report any equipment malfunctions to the Lead or Manager.
-Use cleaning chemicals as instructed.
-Clean up spills on the nursing units and floor kitchens as needed.
-Communicate to kitchen the need for soiled tray pick-up.
-Wear required protective equipment and follow safety procedures when passing trays to isolation patients, as instructed.
High school diploma or GED, preferred
Able to speak, read and write the English language
