Trauma Registrar - Part Time - Days

 

Has primary responsibility for the GSMC trauma data base. Functions as the Trauma Manager's support and relief as member of a multidisciplinary team.  Will maintain trauma registry by abstracting trauma charts, entering data into registry in accordance with Colorado state standards and National Trauma Data Bank through the identification of all cases of trauma admitted to the hospital or transferred to another facility. Assists the Trauma Manager in development and retrieval of reports from the registry. Assists in Performance Improvement.  Assists in facilitation of community/staff education, physician update and implementation of changes within trauma services. Performs other duties as needed. Will cross train to other positions within the trauma team.   

  • Data entry experience required. 
  • Experience with trauma registry database required.
  • One year Trauma Registry experience preferred
  • Experience with Trauma One is preferred.
  • Experience with trauma program preferred
  • In addition to the responsibilities described above, the role may include other responsibilities and duties as assigned from time to time, based upon GSMC needs or requirements. 
  • Reviews trauma patient' clinical records across the continuum of care, including EMS reports, ED, surgery and inpatient records:
    • Applies the appropriate AIS score, ICD9 (or 10) code, and E-Codes.
    • Validates ICD-9 or ICD 10 diagnostic codes, operative codes, and E-codes
    • Analyzes trauma data to provided routine and ad hoc reports of trauma statics and QI filters used for:
    • Monthly performance improvement
      • Routine volume reporting
      • Education
      • Financial analysis
      • External oversight The Joint Commission, CMS,   State and ACS re-verification panel.
  • Must be able to maintain the confidentiality of patient records and other sensitive issues
  • Must have the analytical ability to organize record, and abstract data from computer systems and patient charts to maintain the trauma registry and produce various reports.
