We are looking for an experienced Pharmacy Technician to support our Oncology Department.

Assists with all phases of pharmacy services. Works with patients, providers, and insurance companies to obtain prior authorizations. Prepares medication orders (i.e., chemotherapy, IV admixtures, compounding) according to established policies, procedures, and protocols. Prepares complex sterile compounded IV products, including daily batch orders, stat and other emergency medications and TPN formulations. Assists the Clinical Pharmacy Specialist in providing specialty pharmacy services to the patients of the assigned SCL Health clinic, including: finding funding assistance for patient copays, assists patients with completing required registration forms, and other forms as needed for their pharmaceutical care, and represents the pharmacy to the providers and provider clinic staff when the Clinical Pharmacy Specialist is unavailable. Accurately fills and maintains medications supplies in the automatic dispensing system. Packages and labels medications. Verifies and monitors controlled substance inventories. Completes charges from previous day's orders. Participates in quality and patient safety initiatives. Completes documentation according to departmental standards. Manages Specialty Pharmacy Medication and Supply Inventory. Reconciles and maintain all invoices. Returns damaged, overstocked, or expired merchandise to manufacturers and wholesalers. Resolves shipping problems/errors and expedites backorders. Evaluates and authorizes approval of prior authorization pharmacy requests from prescribers. Researches, resolves and documents prior authorization outcomes in pharmacy system. May be required to float to other departments (within scope of competency and qualifications) based on business need. May be required to be placed on-call during a regularly scheduled shift.
Required: High School Diploma or GED is required.
Preferred: Completion of technician-training program.
Certification, Registration, License:
Pharmacy Technician certification (CPhT) is required or certified within 90 days of hire.
Required: Two (2) years working as a certified pharmacy tech in a hospital or retail pharmacy setting is required.
Preferred: One (1) year specialty pharmacy experience.
