Position Summary
Drive a Dump Truck and Pup Trailer combination to transport aggregates from rock quarries and gravel pits to various plant locations, and customer jobsites.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Abide by Company Safety Program and Policies, while performing duties safely.
Daily perform a pre- and post- trip safety check on equipment and the truck to assure a safe vehicle. Document any maintenance that may be required per company policy. Be responsible for maintaining service intervals for power unit. Maintain log sheet and fuel records (and other paperwork) to maintain compliance with government regulations.
Be responsible for paperwork, i.e., be sure all delivery tickets are turned in to plant personnel accurately and in a timely fashion.
Maintain a clean driving record and operate the company vehicle in a safe and courteous manner. Follow all Company policies regarding safety—traffic laws, cell phone usage, texting, nonsmoking, etc.
Must be able to safely operate truck and trailer combination. Entering truck cab requires 2-3 steps at 18-26” high. Must be able to manipulate tarp mechanism to cover and uncover box on truck and on trailer before and/or after each load. Must be able to clean rear of truck and trailer with a brush after unloading, which may involve walking on uneven ground and negotiating plant areas and climbing over the trailer tongue. May be required to hook and unhook the trailer from the truck occasionally.
Place truck in position to load at gravel pit or rock quarry. Follow guidelines and instructions by personnel at pit or quarry. Responsible for tarping and covering boxes on truck and trailer in designated area in safe manner.
May be responsible for occasional loader operations.
Drive truck to designated location or site for unloading. Position truck for unloading. Must follow direction from plant personnel. If location is a jobsite, must distinguish between safe and unsafe unloading conditions.
Must be able to cooperate with dispatch regarding starting times, variable workload and shift ending times.
Perform minor maintenance to the assigned vehicle—tire pressure, change fluids and filters, and lubricate grease points.

The employee is frequently required to sit, use hands & fingers to handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms, occasionally required to stand; walk; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.

The employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions (may be extreme hot and cold), frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts, minimal amount of non-hazardous dust daily and fumes or other possible airborne particles.
The employee is occasionally exposed to high and precarious places which requires the agility to maintain balance on a truck and trailer while loading/unloading, tarping and strapping.
The noise level in the work environment is usually load to very loud.
Must be flexible regarding the work assigned due to temporary job assignments in Ready Mixed, Block Plant or the Warehouse.
This a non-smoking/vaping campus and truck.
Condition of Employment
Candidate is required to meet the above qualifications, task frequency and PPE requirements. Approval of pre-employment reference & background checks, and post offer drug/alcohol testing with fit for employment screening (if required) are conditions of employment.
