Job Summary

Constructors Inc. is looking for a highly motivated Asphalt Roller Operator to operate a smooth drum vibratory roller to achieve required compaction of asphalt mat.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Abide by Company Safety Program and Policies, while performing duties safely.

Perform pre-start inspections according to Company guidelines. Check fluids and abnormal wear on equipment and report to Supervisor. Assure maintenance logs are accurately completed in a timely manner.

Safely operate asphalt roller on roadway to compact asphalt.

Assist in quality and quantity control by keeping low density and tears on asphalt mat to a minimum.

Assist in inventory control by communicating material and supply needs to ensure projects are completed in a timely, safe and profitable manner.

Assures safe operation of equipment and tools used in the performance of the job. Attend and participate in company safety programs. Maintain safe work site.

Other duties may be assigned.

Position Requirements and Education

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Must have 2 years of previous equipment operation experience or have 1 year on-the-job experience with Constructors.
  • Must have a NE driver’s license with a good driving record to meet the Company’s insurability factors. Must be able to operate a vehicle safely, especially in high traffic areas.
  • Must be able to work according to seasonal and construction demand schedule.
  • Must have knowledge of density requirements and asphalt-laying process and understand the tasks the roller is capable of performing for extensive periods of time.
  • Must be able to recognize mechanical failures.

Work Environment

Employee is regularly required to sit; use feet, hands and fingers, to handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms to operate equipment.

The employee is frequently required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.

The employee must periodically lift and/or move up to 50 to 75 pounds.

Must be able to sit in the equipment for extended periods of time and be subject to the bouncing of the seat in the equipment.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

The employee is required to work a 12 hour shift, and during busy season the position may be required to work 5 to 6 days a week.

Continually is exposed to workplace chemicals.

Must wear the PPE required of the position.

Frequently exposed to outside hot and cold weather conditions.

Construction site may have differential grade in walking situations.

The employee is regularly exposed to construction driving conditions, moving mechanical parts; and vibration.

The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid weather conditions; moving mechanical parts and high, precarious places. T

he equipment is operating in a high traffic environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.

This is a tobacco free campus and facility.
