Cook / Banquet Staff / Servers / Beverage Cart Staff


Quarry Oaks is hiring part-time seasonal / summer cooks and wait staff who are able work as a team to provide exceptional service to guests that dine in the restaurant and banquet facility in accordance with the established menu and service standards by successfully performing the job duties listed below.

Special requirements:

Must be able to work flexible schedule and/or overtime if needed.
Must be able to work weekends and holidays.
Must possess honesty and integrity.
Must be courteous and tactful at all times.

Must be a self-starter.
Must be able to clearly understand and communicate with guests and co-workers in English to include verbally and in writing.
Physical requirements include stooping, standing, walking, and ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

Abide by Company Safety Program and Policies, while performing duties safely.

Cook duties:

  • Accurately cook and package food prepared to order.
  • Cook the exact number of items ordered by each guest.
  • Ability to work on several different orders simultaneously.
  • Ensure sanitation, health, and safety standards are being met in work areas by maintaining clean food preparation areas, cooking surfaces, and utensils.
  • Operate large-volume cooking equipment such as grills, deep-fat fryers, or griddles.
  • Prep necessary food items for use in the future which may include washing, cutting, and baking foods designated for cooking.
  • Prepare specialty foods following specific methods.
  • Read food order slips or receive verbal instructions as to food required by patron, and prepare and cook food according to instructions.
  • Verify that prepared food meets requirements for quality and quantity.  
  • Clean, stock, and restock workstations and displays.
  • Take delivery of supplies.
  • Schedule activities and equipment use with managers, using information about daily menus to help coordinate cooking times.

    Server/Banquet Staff duties:

  • Provide excellent service in the dining room and banquet facilities with immediate attention given to all guests upon seating.
  • Accurately and efficiently complete food and drink orders and service.
  • Efficiently pours and refills all beverages including wine, coffee, water, and any other beverages during service      
  • Clears soiled dishes as needed.
  • Sets up and cleans banquet rooms and dining room according to the banquet event order (BEO).
  • Performs banquet set-up tasks as delegated by supervisor or manager
  • Cleans all assigned work areas in kitchen and dining room.
  • Assists in closing functions by performing various tasks such as removing soiled linens, bussing glasses, dishes, and silverware, vacuuming, cleaning and resetting the room for the next function.

Perform additional duties as directed by a supervisor or manager.

Beverage Cart Staff duties:

May be eligible to drive beverage cart with acceptable driving record and of legal age.

Other duties may be assigned.

Education and/or Experience:                                           

Previous prep and line cook experience in the food and beverage industry helpful.  Previous food service experience is helpful.   Previous general knowledge of quantity food preparation and portioned serving is preferred but not necessary. New employees will need to learn safety, sanitation and food handling procedures.  We are willing to train the right candidate according to our standards.

Communication & Reasoning Ability:                                                                                            

Must be able to speak, read and understand basic cooking directions. Must have the ability to apply common sense understanding in order to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions.  Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace.


Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to work.

Other Skills and Abilities:

Effectively and respectfully communicate and interact with other employees, supervisors, and guests.   Must be able to accept work direction and understand the need to maintain quality standards and objectives of the food service.  Must be able to work in a team environment and work calmly under pressure.  Must be committed to quality service.

Other Qualifications:

Must be able to perform physical duties required of the position.  Must have good problem solving skills, be self-motivated and organized.   First Aid and CPR/AED Certification is helpful.                             

Physical Demands:

Stands and walks continuously throughout the working day. Reaches, stoops, bends, lifts, carries, and manipulates various food products and equipment. Visual acuity and color discrimination for examining cooked and stored foods. Taste and smell discrimination in determining nutritional quality and palatability of foods. Ability to work with chemicals and cleaning agents. Must be free from infection or diseases. Exposure to temperature and humidity changes as in entering refrigerated storage areas, working at ovens, ranges, dish-washing machines, and at steam tables. Must be able to lift and/or carry 30 to 50 pounds.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; exposures to cold, heat and water in an inside environment.  The noise level in the work environment is loud.  Must be able and willing to work flexible hours, such as during an emergency situation, weekends, and holidays.   Must be able to commute to a somewhat remote location.  This is a non-smoking campus.

Condition of Employment:

Candidate is required to meet the above qualifications, task frequency and PPE requirements.  Approval of pre-employment reference & background checks, and post offer drug/alcohol testing with back screens (if required) are required as conditions of employment.
