Overland Ready Mix Location: York, NE
Develops markets and sells products manufactured and represented by Overland Ready Mix, Inc. according to profit standards. The Sales Manager must prospect, contact, influence and support new accounts, in addition to supporting and growing established accounts by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.
Abide by Company Safety Program and Policies, while performing duties safely.
Assist in the development and implementation of a strategic marketing plan for Overland Ready Mix products.
Listen and understand the situation of the customer and match the best solution to the needs of the customer while dedicating the appropriate amount of time to provide the technical expertise and the best possible solution to the customer.
Develops a comprehensive understanding of the company’s products, as well as understanding the strengths and weaknesses of competitor’s products.
Compiles lists of prospective customers for use as sales leads, based on information from newspapers, business directories, industry ads, trade shows, Internet Web sites, and other sources.
Develop and maintain relationships with customers.
Responsible for accurate and timely proposal generation and presentation to management.
Assure bids on projects support the company profit standards/margins by executing price and product strategies in conjunction with the marketing plan.
Travel throughout assigned territory to call on regular and prospective customers to develop a business understanding of products and services that they may use now or in the future. May deal with customers in the field or by phone.
Train and support staff to have a comprehensive sales understanding of products, goals and customer service to assure the customer needs are met.
Maintain sales files with all information pertinent to the project for jobs sold, lost or postponed.
Assist in developing and implementing marketing material to meet the needs of the company.
Assist, coordinate and support field quality control technicians.
Maintain involvement in the industry associations. Attend trade shows when needed.
Represent the company according to a high level of professionalism, ethics, integrity and product knowledge. Other duties as assigned.
Education and/or Experience:
A Bachelor's degree with emphasis in Business, Marketing, Engineering, Architecture or related field is preferred. Three to five years related sales experience and/or training which will demonstrate strong technical, construction and design consulting sales skills; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Proven abilities to build and maintain business relationships and apply negotiation skills.
Ability to read and interpret technical documents. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization. Must be thorough in verbal and written communication skills to assure all aspects of the project are documented. Must be able to maintain good customer service. Ability to develop a strong customer base and maintain ongoing business relationships. Must be able to present ideas with knowledge and authority.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to present information so that it is understandable and meets the needs of the customer.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule.
Maintain customer data base and assure information is up to date and accurate. Assure tracking systems alert to future projects based on customer input.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable with the company driver policy. ACI Level 1 certification is preferred, but not required. If applicant does not have the certification, must have a past demonstrated ability to be trained at this level and be able to complete training and certification process within one year of employment.
Other Skills and Abilities:
Previous sales and marketing experience in a construction related industry is preferred. Ability to understand, conceptualize and persuade customers on the benefits of company related products that will meet their needs and add value to the end result. A proven track record in relationship management and results delivery where excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to lead and motivate others to achieve results.
Must have good people skills. Must be able to work weekends and evenings based on business needs or customer requests. Some overnight travel may be required.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk and use hands and fingers to handle, or feel. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Must be able to go to construction sites as needed.
The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. May be required to make visits to construction sites. The job requires a considerable amount of discipline to motivate and maintain a constant commitment to meeting goals and achieving results. This is a non-smoking facility.

Candidate is required to meet the above qualifications, task frequency and PPE requirements. Approval of pre-employment reference & background checks, and post offer drug/alcohol testing with back screens (if required) are required as conditions of employment.
