Laborer, Structural Plant, Concrete Industries, Lincoln,NE
All applicants are required to pass a background screen, pre-employment back screen and drug test.
The position may require extended work hours (up to 12 hours), and irregular shifts
to meet business production needs--may include nights and weekends.
Supports all labor activity involved in the production of various concrete products,
the fabrication of the reinforcing members and the repair and storage
of finished products by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.
Abide by Company Safety Program and Policies, while performing duties safely.
Clean, install and remove metal and wooden forms.
Prepare, carry and place concrete reinforcing components.
Place and finish concrete in forms using shovels, screeds, vibrators, floats, trowels and other appropriate tools.
Clean work areas and equipment using shovels, vacuums, wheelbarrows, solvents, petroleum based products and other appropriate material.
Be proficient in the use of small hand and power tools such as hammers, chisels, pliers, grinders, impact wrenches, saws, etc.
With adequate training, general laborers will operate other tools such as cutting torches, stressing jacks, pipe tipper, etc.
Mix, place and finish concrete patch mixes used to repair finished products.
Assist in assuring a safe, clean yard environment. Assure team approach to safety standards.
As required, clean and sanitize restrooms/bathrooms using established practices and procedure.
Other duties may be assigned.
Education and/or Experience:
Some high school or one year job related previous heavy industry experience preferred and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, and procedure manuals. Must be able to understand and follow work directions as given.
Other Skills and Abilities:
Must be proficient on the use of small hand and power tools. Mechanical aptitude helpful. The position may be required to support emergency situations. The position may require extended work hours (up to 12 hours) and irregular shifts to meet business production needs--may include nights and weekends. Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety rules and regulations.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand, work in a bent over position for extended periods of time and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands and fingers to handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to walk; climb on a step ladder and other raised platforms to a height of 12' or balance; stoop, kneel, and crouch. The employee will occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds to a height of 48", turn, twist and carry. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Personal protection equipment is required as the position operates in a structural yard and manufacturing plant--steel toe shoes, gloves, goggles, etc. Additionally, employees will use personal protective equipment that insures there is no contact of potentially contaminated material with skin or personal clothing.
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; working with small hand and power tools, work with extreme heat and vibration. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals, must be able to work with and around wet concrete, cement dust, solvents, epoxy and petroleum based products without allergic reaction. Some jobs require an employee to be exposed to unpleasant and noxious fumes and odors. Some jobs require an employee to work in a hazardous work environment. The employee also works outside with year-round weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud to very loud. This is a non-smoking campus.
