Warehouse Technician, Watkins Concrete Block Company, Omaha
Previous warehouse experience highly desirable.
Supports activities associated with receiving, storing, inventorying and shipping materials to ensure effective and efficient customer service, operations and material transportation by performing the following duties.
This position does require Saturday hours at various times throughout
the construction season/year.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
Abide by Company Safety Program and Policies, while performing duties safely.
Receives and warehouses incoming supplies and materials. Inspects merchandise for order accuracy of quantity and correct material, damages and matches PO numbers with orders and process paperwork.
Keeps inventory stocked in designated areas to facilitate accurate and efficient inventory count and allow for storage of daily receipts.
Determines methods of care for items received and stored to assure damage does not occur and product is available when needed.
Conducts scheduled inventories.
Stage product for loading.
Assure standards are met for the warehouse to remain clean and orderly.
Assist in rebar operations according to workflow and business needs.
Other duties may be assigned.
Education and/or Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred. Previous experience with inventory, warehouse &/or construction products related field is desired. Previous experience operating construction machinery or equipment--forklift, pallet loaders, lift truck and a front-end loader is helpful.
Ability to read and comprehend delivery tickets and invoices, load and sales tickets, SDS sheets and the company safety manual. Ability to understand and provide work direction.
Mathematical Skills: Must understand basic numbers and math to count inventory or complete orders based on sales tickets.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out multiple step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with variables. Must be able to distinguish between safe and unsafe conditions in the yard and in the warehouse.
Will be trained on computer systems required for inventory and warehouse systems. Must have an ability to learn the system.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Forklift certification helpful, will be trained on our equipment.
Other Skills and Abilities:
Must have a good sense of detail and work to maintain a clean and safe warehouse and yard environment.
Good physical skills to do the overall requirements of the job. Must be able to take direction from others and work well in a team environment. Must have good customer service skills. Must be flexible and provide work support activities to other operations—rebar and yard. Must be able to work a flexible work schedule during busy season. Must be able to work late or irregular hours. Previous knowledge of construction and construction products is helpful. Must understand and maintain the internal and external customer service responsibilities of the position.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers to handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds to waist height. The employee must frequently be able to lift 50 pounds from waist height to full arm extension above the head. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is will be exposed to outside weather conditions, may be extreme hot or cold. Work in a minimal amount of non-hazardous dust daily. May be required to work in any of the environments of the warehouse, rebar, plant and yard. Must wear any protective devices as required by the company safety policies relating to the assignment being performed. The noise level in the work eThe expanded work schedule follows construction cycles, typically March through November. There are scheduled Saturday hours that are required during construction season. Off season schedule is normally a standard work week. Must be able to work a flexible work schedule during busy season. Must be able to work late or irregular hours. This is a non-smoking campus.
