Accounts Payable / Accounts Receivable Specialist

Department / Location:    NEBCO, Inc. / Corp Accounting, Lincoln, NE


Performs accounting and clerical duties related to the efficient maintenance and processing of accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Abides by Company Safety Program.

Accounts Payable:

Process invoices for payment to vendors.

Correspond with vendors and respond to inquiries.

Report sales taxes by calculating requirements on paid invoices.

Maintain accounts payable files in accordance with company policies.

Prepare analysis of accounts and monthly business reports.

Assists in monthly closings. 

Accounts Receivable:

Record deposit receipts and apply payments to corresponding invoices.

Correspond with customers and respond to inquiries.

Support the month-end customer statement close. 

Prepare sales invoices for member companies.

Assist with special projects and performs other duties as assigned.


Education and/or Experience:                                                       

Associates degree in accounting or business and a minimum of three years of accounting experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Preferred experience in accounts payable and accounts receivable in a high volume environment.

Additional Skills:                                                     

Working knowledge of accounting software, inventory software, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.  The accounting department uses Lawson ERP and financial accounting software.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit. The employee is frequently required to use hands and fingers to handle, or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Ability to bend, stoop to complete file retrieval or update.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Condition of Employment:
