Production / Bagging Operator,  Ashland


Operate production bagging equipment to produce products for U-Mix Concrete Products
by performing the following duties:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.
Abide by Company Safety Program and Policies, while performing the duties safely.
Set up, adjust and operate bagging machines to mix product according to specifications.
Operation of filling systems to process orders according to department standards.
Organize and inventory warehoused goods as needed.
Assure safety devices are in proper working order, used and in place.
Perform job according to safety/environmental rules and regulations.
Move product via forklift.
Maintain the plant area in a clean and orderly manner.
Monitor and operate pertinent equipment for the wrapping of U-Mix concrete products. Maintain an inventory of shrink wrap film and pallets for production.
Coordinate storage with plant staff.
Remove waste material and waste product from plant area.
Assures product quality by assisting with maintenance and repairs of pertinent equipment.
Performs daily inspections and reports maintenance that may be required or performs minor repairs.
Assures plant area is clean. Other duties may be assigned.
Education and/or Experience:                                                  
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills:                                                   
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Reasoning Ability:                                                
Ability to follow supervisory directions and operate equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Fork truck experience/knowledge is required to load trucks and move pallets. Must be able to become forklift certified in a reasonable period of time. Must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable under the company program.
Other Skills and Abilities:                                                
Must have general labor skills. Must be self motivated and able to follow directions. General warehousing skills are helpful.  This is a small operations group and attendance is very important.
Other Qualifications:                                            
Must have safety awareness and the ability to assure work is performed according to department safety standards. Must have good attendance practices--small team.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit for extended periods of time; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms, must have good dexterity skills and able to talk and hear. The employee is required to bend, stoop, squat, twist and climb on a repetitive basis, stand; walk and climb on stairs and ladders or balance. Must have good eyesight (may be corrected). The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside extreme hot and cold weather conditions. The employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee will work with equipment daily on a routine basis. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places and moderate non-hazardous dust or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.  This is a non smoking campus.

Condition of Employment:

Candidate is required to meet the above qualifications, task frequency and PPE requirements.  Approval of pre-employment reference & background checks, and post offer drug/alcohol testing with back screens (if appropriate) are required as conditions of employment.  This also applies to all transfers, fit-for-duty and return to work programs.
