Oversees daily production, distribution, and operations for the concrete plant facility to assure the demands of the operation are met and continually in balance the competing needs of maintenance and production. Operates equipment including a rubber tire loader, skid loader, and other equipment by performing the following duties:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.
Abide by Company Safety Program and Policies, while performing duties safely.
Clean and maintain the plant and equipment on a regular basis according to safety standards.
Ensures safe and efficient operation of the plant through maintenance, inspection and repair of the equipment and operating conditions of the concrete plant. Keep written records of that maintenance.
Inspects plant and equipment on a daily basis. Grease, change oil, change tires, and perform other maintenance as required.
Develops plans for efficient use of materials, machines, and the plant.
Reviews raw material quality and inventory control programs.
Provides up-to-date status on support or production activities to plant manager.
Coordinate and assist in the supervision of any alterations in plant design.
Maintain a high degree of visibility in the plant/yard reviewing product and process. Other duties may be assigned.
Education and/or Experience:
Prefer 2 years in a ready mixed concrete production role or experience in a related role with previous leadership experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret specifications. Ability to write business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
An understanding of the Safety Rules & Regulations of the industry required. A CDL is preferred but not required. Within six months from date of employment must be capable of becoming certified on heavy equipment. May be required to obtain other certifications, such as confined space, Aerial lift, and respirator qualified.
Other Skills and Abilities:
Previous work experience in quality assurance and testing is helpful. Must have a good overall technical knowledge of plant operations, safety, training, environmental compliance, equipment and construction projects. Must have demonstrated leadership skills. Must be detail oriented with an ability to coordinate multiple tasks. The position may be required to be "on-call" to respond to emergency situations. The position may require extended work hours to meet business production needs--may include nights and weekends.
A proven track record of increasing responsibility and results in production, maintenance, process and quality.
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. The employee is may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration. The employee is exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. This is a non-smoking campus.
