Intern, Detailer for Structural Steel at Concrete Industries, Lincoln

This position is being developed for a SCC student in the CAD program that has an interest in developing, as an Intern, on the job product detailing experience for structural steel products and has the necessary desire, education, skills and talent to do the job.

What skills you will need:

  • Demonstrated ability to read and understand read blueprints
  • Must have good math skills with some knowledge of trigonometry
  • Must have 2-3 years working experience with computer
  • Must be organized, have attention to detail, willing to follow instructions,
  • able to work under pressure, able to multi task, have a willingness to learn
  • Knowledgeable of construction products / industry very helpful
  • Current or previous CAD schooling
  • Must have good performance and attendance patterns
  • Must be able to work 25-30 business hours per week
  • Revit or SDS2 training preferred

 

Job Summary

As a Detailer Intern you will analyze blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to perform detailing and some design for the production shop drawings by performing the following duties:

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities are examples to duties that you will be responsible as you develop your detailing skills and abilities:

Abide by Company Safety Program and Policies, while performing the duties safely.

Reads and understands architectural/structural drawings and specifications.    

Utilizes knowledge of various computer programs, engineering practices, production practices, mathematics, building materials, and other physical sciences to complete drawings.

Assures any changes to the project are made and documented on the computer according to standards.

Consults with other individuals to discuss and resolve issues.

Communicates with other individuals in the organization to obtain support and commitment to the production of detailed drawings.

    Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Must be capable of getting AISC certification within the 18 months of employment.

Candidate is required to meet the above qualifications, task frequency and PPE requirements.   Approval of pre-employment reference & background checks, and post offer drug/alcohol testing with back screens (if required) are required as conditions of employment. This also applies to all transfers, fit-for-duty and return to work programs.
