Production Line Operator
Department / Location: Reimers Kaufman Concrete Products, Lincoln, NE
Performs safe operations of concrete block production with focus on quality block product by performing the following:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
Abide by Company Safety Program and Policies, while performing duties safely.
Inspect appearance of product. Remove bad product from production as needed.
Dress product as needed. Hand cube product as needed.
Operate splitting equipment. Saw product as needed.
Operate lift truck (if certified) as needed.
Assure safety devices are in proper working order, used and in place. Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
Perform job according to safety/environmental rules and regulations.
Repair wood pallets as needed.
Clean the plant area and equipment in a clean and orderly manner as needed. Assist in maintenance as needed. Other duties as assigned.
Education and/or Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred. Previous experience in a block plant is helpful. Previous experience lifting heavy product operating a forklift is helpful—must become certified within a reasonable period of time, if requested by the department.
Ability to read, write, and understand written and verbal, including instructions, manuals, rules, regulations, SDS sheets and the company safety manual. Ability to understand work directions.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Must be able to distinguish between safe and unsafe conditions in the plant.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Forklift certification helpful but not necessary.
Other Skills and Abilities:
Must have a good sense of detail and work to maintain a clean and safe block environment. Must be able to work overtime and weekends according to business needs. Must be able to use appropriate hand and power tools. Due to the repetitive nature of the job, must be able to perform responsibilities according to standards.
Good physical skills to do the overall requirements of the job. Must be able to safely perform job on and around machinery that could cause bodily harm if proper procedures are not followed. Must be able to take direction from others and work well in a team environment. This is a very physical job. This is a small production operation, the employee must maintain a good attendance record.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand for prolonged periods; walk; repetitively use hands and fingers to handle, grasp, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, squat, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee is required to climb stairs and ladders, working at an elevation. The employee must be able to occasionally lift up to 100 pounds. Must have agility to maintain balance on equipment or block piles. Must lift, place and set block. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly working inside in a heavy industrial production environment exposed to outside weather conditions which may be extreme hot or cold. Work in a moderate amount of non-hazardous dust daily. Must wear any protective clothing and devices as required by the company safety policies relating to the assignment being performed. The employee is regularly working with equipment and exposed to moving mechanical parts; precarious places and vibration. Must be able to climb ladders and stairs. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud. Must be able to work extended shifts as needed. This is a non-smoking campus.
Condition of Employment:
Candidate is required to meet the above qualifications, task frequency and PPE requirements. Approval of pre-employment reference & background checks, and post offer drug/alcohol testing with back screens (if required) are required as conditions of employment. This also applies to all transfers, fit-for-duty and return to work programs.
