Helps mechanics and supervisors in day to day operations of the Fleet Garage:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
Abide by Company Safety Program and Policies, while performing duties safely.
All aspects of vehicle and equipment maintenance, reporting mileage and record service logs.
Performs all work in accordance with schedules, policies, procedures and standards of quality and safety.
Maintains and assures cleanliness and neatness of shop area.
Education and/or Experience:
Must have a general mechanical aptitude.
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Must have a valid driver's license. Must be insurable within company guidelines.
Must work well with others, be flexible regarding work assignments. Must provide own basic tools of the trade.
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers to handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms. Would occasionally climb or balance; and regularly would stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; able to talk, hear, taste and smell. Must be able to use up to 35 pounds of force occasionally. The employee is occasionally required to sit. Direct frontal reaching is required while the employee may be required to lift 5 pounds over the head occasionally, must also be able to lift up to 10 pounds to waist height. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Employees are required to wear protective safety gear and eye protection.
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and possible extreme heat. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Employees are required to wear protective ear protection. There are some chemical exposures that are part of performing the job. SDS sheets are available in the department. This is a non-smoking campus and facility.
Condition of Employment:
Candidate is required to meet the above qualifications, task frequency and PPE requirements. Approval of pre-employment reference & background checks, and post offer drug/alcohol testing with back screens (if required) are required as conditions of employment. This also applies to all transfers, fit-for-duty and return to work programs.
