Job Description

Must be able to work at the Fremont--WS & G facility. Employment offers are contingent on applicant successfully completing a pre-employment physical, back screen and drug screen.

 Summary

 

Operates straight or articulated rubber tired tractor type vehicle equipped with front mounted hydraulically powered bucket or scoop to lift and transport bulk materials to and from storage or processing areas, to feed conveyors, hoppers, or chutes, and to load trucks or railcars by performing the following duties.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.

Abide by Company Safety Program and Policies, while performing duties safely.

Starts engine, shifts gears, presses pedals, and turns steering wheel to operate loader.

Moves levers to lower and tilt bucket and drives front end loader forward to force bucket into bulk material.

Moves levers to raise and tilt bucket when filled, drives vehicle to work site, and moves levers to dump material.

Performs routine maintenance on loader such as lubricating, fueling, and cleaning.

Assures safe operation of equipment.

The position may occasionally require loader work at other Plants.

Education and/or Experience:                                           

High school education preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Must have previous heavy equipment experience with some manual labor on plant equipment. Must also be mechanically and physically inclined to provide mechanical and maintenance skills to the gravel pit operation.

Language Skills:                                                      

Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers.  Ability to print and speak simple sentences.

Mathematical Skills: General math skills.                                                   

Reasoning Ability:                                                   

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions.  Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.                                             

Other Information:                                                   

Based on weather conditions, the position is year round position; however, there may be times when work is limited.  During the winter there will be maintenance on the dredge.

The job is a 12 hour shift, and during busy season the position may be required to work 5 to 6 days a week, which would be 45-60 hours per week.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 70 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.  The employee is required to work a 12 hour shift, and during busy season the position may be required to work 5 to 6 days a week.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts and high, precarious places. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud. This is a non-smoking campus.

Condition of Employment:

Candidate is required to meet the above qualifications, task frequency and PPE requirements.  Approval of pre-employment reference & background checks, and post offer drug/alcohol testing with back screens (if required) are required as conditions of employment.  This also applies to all transfers, fit-for-duty and return to work programs.
