Position Summary: The Marketing & Communications Manager works to increase the visibility of the
Latino Center of the Midland’s many programs, events, and initiatives to the broader community.
Responsibilities include the development and supervision of all marketing and communication goals,
strategies, and implementation plans to promote the organization and its mission, while supervising
communication staff and interns. In collaboration with the Chief Executive Officer and development
staff, responsibilities are inclusive of supporting the launch and managing of new products and
services, fundraising events and capital campaigns to meet development goals and targets.
? Develop, manage and execute an annual strategic marketing and communications plan for the
organization across all communication media to reach appropriate target audiences and based
upon specific performance goals and within budget requirements.
? Evaluate the success of identified communication and marketing strategies; provide and
implement course corrections based on data and metrics provided.
? Maintain active awareness of industry trends; initiate research, development, and
implementation of new marketing programs, including direct mail, corporate sales, social media
marketing, conventions, workshops, advertisements, sales tools and other initiatives; monitor,
evaluate, and report similar industry activities; make recommendations based on findings and
opportunities discovered.
? Act as brand liaison to the organization to ensure consistent brand voice, vision, and aesthetics
are achieved; develop and promote branding initiatives consistent with organizational mission
and create new opportunities for engagement with donors, stakeholders, clients and community
while maximizing reach.
? Work with the Chief Executive Officer and development staff to coordinate the launch of new
products and services, and guide the communication and marketing needs of fundraising events
and capital campaigns to meet development goals and targets.
? Collaborate with all departments to identify internal and external communication and marketing
needs; coordinate with partners regarding promotional opportunities and joint marketing
activities – aligning messaging and activities for greatest impact.
? Manage performance and operational oversight of a small communication staff, provide
mentorship and support to ensure high engagement, quality work and pride of mission; prioritize
staff professional development opportunities to promote continuous growth of skills and
expertise, and foster career advancement.

? Coordinate and oversee the work of external communication consultants and identify new
consultants with additional expertise as warranted.
? Ensure all materials are developed and distributed according to an appropriate timeline; oversee
the organization’s marketing and communication master calendar; track annual fundraising
events, programmatic needs and map promotional opportunities; manage and prioritize staff
time to fulfill cyclical and new projects as needed.
? Manage relationships with media and serve as point of contact for many external inquiries
regarding the organization, its mission and engagement opportunities.
? Manage the department’s budget and ensure departmental milestones and metrics are
achieved on time and within budget.
? Develop curriculum for Siembra Medios internship program that introduces interns to
photography, videography, graphic design, copywriting, and other essential marketing skills for
young professionals.
? Manage Communications Specialist and Siembra Medios Coordinator and oversee the growth
of the department through the internship pipeline.
? Lead and support special projects as identified by the COO, CEO or the Board of Directors.
? Excellent understanding and familiarity with brand building and brand management.
? Demonstrate proficiency in internet marketing techniques, technologies, and solutions.
? Highly effective project management, prioritization, multi-tasking, and time management skills to
meet deadlines.
? Exceptional written, oral, proofreading, branding, design oversight, interpersonal and
presentation skill set.
? Management, analysis and growth of social and digital advertising campaigns with measured
? Breadth of working knowledge and past experience in publishing with print and web-media.
? Ability to manage and coordinate the end-to-end development process while meeting deadlines
and budget requirements.
? Ability to build and maintain beneficial media relationships on an organization's behalf.
? Ability to take initiative and manage projects assigned through completion with minimal
supervision, and be a highly resourceful team player under pressure.
? Creative and innovative thinker, who actively presents new opportunities, proposes solutions

? Ability to manage email marketing campaigns through Mailchimp.
? Proficiency in teaching high school and college students to use creative softwares.
? Strong web development skills, particularly using Wordpress and related plugins.
? Highly effective using Trello as a project management tool in order to lead the Communications
department and Siembra Medios internship program.
? Ability to design t-shirts, window panes, table runners, banners, and other marketing materials.
? Ability to see a video project from start to finish, including storyboarding, shooting, editing, and
distributing on appropriate channels.
? Camera competency (both photo and video), and experience using a drone, time lapse
cameras, gimbals, and teleprompters.

? Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, advertising, public relations, journalism, sales,
business administration, or equivalent required. Master’s degree in marketing, media
communications or journalism preferred.
? 3-5 years of work experience including original writing and editing, and some public relations
required, work experience in the nonprofit sector preferred.
? Minimum 2 years supervising marketing staff, students or volunteers.
? Proficiency with the Adobe Creative Cloud, particularly Illustrator, InDesign Lightroom,
Photoshop, and Premiere Pro.
? Experience with paid advertising campaigns through social media channels.
? Proficiency in Spanish required.
