We are currently seeking a Human Resource Specialist to join our team.

Requirements:

  • Degree in HR/Management or at least 3 years’ HR experience
  • Knowledge of basic HR procedures and confidentiality requirements
  • General knowledge of payroll, benefits and new hire orientations
  • Safety Committee experience a plus
  • Department of Transportation (DOT) experience a plus
  • Strong time management skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • High energy and motivation
  • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines
  • Strong prioritization skills
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, & Outlook, Foundations a plus!
  • Working knowledge of office equipment; print, fax, scan
  • Working knowledge of IPhone & Galaxy functions
  • Ability to lift up to 10 pounds
  • Ability to push, pull, bend, squat, kneel, stoop, crawl and reach with ease
  • Ability to work well with all levels of employees (Laborer to President)
  • Flexibility in job assignments

Job duties include:

  • New Hire Orientation
  • Process new hire paperwork (I-9, W-4, E-Verify, Background checks, Employment Verifications, ID Badges)
  • Benefits Administration –Dental, Vision, Disability and Life Insurance, AFLAC, 401-K
  • Create Job Descriptions
  • Post Job Advertisements
  • Review resumes – send confirmation or rejection letters to applicants
  • Conduct first-round formal or telephone Interviews for all positions
  • Work closely with insurance company to handle all Workman’s Comp claims
  • Administer employee verbal, written warnings, terminations
  • Manage company drug & alcohol policy; send employees for drug tests
  • Enforce completion of substance abuse program for drug policy violators through NA
  • Continuously update employee handbook
  • Communicate company policy or procedures at meetings and/or handouts
  • Coordinate company events, parties, holiday gifts to employees & gifts to customers
  • Manage uniform service (ordering, distributions, additions, removals, monthly invoices)
  • Inform Supervisors of their employee’s negotiated review dates, birthdays and drug/alcohol tests
  • Coordinate employee college classes, continuing education and additional training
  • Create standard HR forms and various contracts
  • Respond to state for unemployment, child support and audits
  • Respond to requests of employment verifications
  • Update employee information lists daily & maintain confidential personnel files
  • Assist Owners with misc. assignments and reports as needed

SAFETY Implementation:

  • Manage OSHA Recordables; Compile Log 300 & Report 300A
  • Submit Worker’s Comp claims to insurance and follow up through closure
  • Hold Officer and Secretary position within company Safety Committee; enforce rules, compile minutes
  • Schedule random site visits for safety with Loss Control Specialist and follow up
  • Update injury board regularly
  • Organize and attend monthly safety meetings with Plumbers and Shop Laborers

DOT Compliance:

  • Manage QA files for 45-50 drivers under DOT/FMCSA regulation
  • Update Driver Safety handbook regularly
  • Schedule DOT physicals and drug tests
  • Comply with DOT consortium for drug/alcohol testing
