Position Overview:

The primary responsibility of this position is to direct large size strategic projects and mitigate risk. Additional responsibilities include managing the daily work activities of the Business Project Management department, leading a variety of process and systems-related projects, working closely with IS department on projects, and creating reports for Senior Management.


Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business related field or equivalent work experience
  • Series 7, 24 and 66 licenses preferred
  • 5 plus years previous financial services industry experience preferred
  • 3-5 years Project Management experience required
  • 3-5 years Agile / Scrum experience required. Scrum Master certification preferred
  • Previous leadership experience
  • Project management: certified as a PMP by the PMI. It is also desirable that the PMO Manager have related credentials from the PMI such as Risk Management, OPM3, etc.
  • Ability to be at work on a regular and predictable basis
  • Ability to collect and analyze complex data, evaluate information and systems and draw logical conclusions
  • Ability to create and deliver training presentations
  • Ability to effectively communicate in person, via telephone, and/or by email with customers, co-workers, vendors, and various business contacts in a courteous and professional manner
  • Ability to influence others in a professional setting
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and handle multiple tasks in pressure situations in order to meet deadlines
  • Ability to resolve problems and make rule-based decisions

  • Experience with highly complex business plan management across multiple divisions
  • Experience working in multiple functional areas within the securities industry
  • Knowledge of supervisory techniques to accomplish instruction, motivation, and training of personnel
  • Skill in effective project leadership, training, and group facilitation


Job Duties/Tasks:

This position is responsible for, but not limited to the following:

  1. Manage and monitor daily work activities of the Business Project Management team.
  • Plan, organize, and schedule work to ensure efficient and effective operations
  • Develop, communicate and implement annual department business plan
  1. Determine staff goals and handle regular performance evaluations.  Conduct personnel actions including selection, professional development, and performance management decisions.
  2. Bring a strategic perspective on business activities with the ability to help the executive team rationalize and maintain a clear portfolio of initiatives that are aligned to the Securities America mission.
  3. Lend leadership and guidance to PMO development initiatives and to the infusion of modern project management tools.
  4.  Lead selective medium to large sized process-related and systems-related projects with previously defined incremental framework:
  • Provide project leadership to team members that includes training, scheduling and assigning work
  • Facilitate the completion of  project charters
  • Manage project issues and ensure that business requirements, process models, and functional specifications are gathered
  • Facilitate project meetings, distribute meeting minutes, and prepare status reports and distribute to project team members
  1. Gather business requirements from users
  2. Create user documentation for technology products and applications
  3. Design and create computer-based and intranet-based documentation (i.e. “How-do I?” and “Help” databases)
  4. Develop and maintain operational workflow databases
  5. Create functional specifications and draft process models
  6. Perform project analysis
  7. Research industry-related efforts
  8. Perform ad hoc issue resolution
  9. Facilitate quality improvement groups:
  • Make recommendations on processes and process improvements
  • Support and facilitate systems that achieve zero defects
