Position Overview:

Securities America, Inc. is currently seeking students for the Finance Associate Program. This program will provide students with a hands-on learning experience that directly relates to the skills needed in a full-time position.  The opportunity exists to develop and learn key functions related to the financial industry. Students in this program will begin with a four-week training program to learn about the company and industry policy and procedures. Following training, students will answer phone inquiries from Registered Representatives and their office staff and clients. Students will provide guidance on operational and procedural questions and conduct research on issues. Students will also have the opportunity to learn about financial compliance, how Financial Advisors manage a practice, and study for the Series 7 industry license.

Position Duties/ Tasks:

This position is responsible for, but not limited to the following:

  1. Answer telephone, email, chat, and fax inquiries from company representatives
  2. Act as primary contact and advocate for registered representatives and their staff on operational and procedural issues
  3. Develop and maintain positive working relationship with all contacts (reps, assistants, vendors, and internal staff.)
  4. Demonstrates the ability to reach decisions promptly and implement appropriate action, deferring to manager only when appropriate
  5. Stays readily available for incoming calls, adjusting to changes in call volume to effectively meet demand and reduce wait time when volume is at its peak
  6. Ability to recognize the red flags of fraudulent activities and how to report suspicious activities to the proper parties
  7. Study for Series 7 industry license

Position Requirements:

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration or related degree
  • Must be available for full-time work during the summer of 2018
  • Ability to maintain complete confidentiality of information
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and handle multiple tasks
  • Critical thinking skills necessary with the ability to plan ahead and conceptualize
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to provide a high level of customer service by anticipating and meeting the needs of Registered Representatives and their staff and clients
