JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for ensuring customer needs are being handled in a prompt and professional manner by retail staff. Manages all areas of the branch retail area by recruiting, training, scheduling, coaching and evaluating the staff. Ensures that the department balances at the end of each business day and achieves sales and service goals. Utilizes knowledge and experience in exercising discretion and independent judgment in resolving problems and answering questions. Develops and motivates staff in the promotion and sales of deposit and loan products. Works closely with Regional Manager to promote a team atmosphere and approach with the branch.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 1. Maintains a thorough working knowledge of and uses discretion and judgment as needed to administer the bank’s policies, operating procedures, and services, as well as all current marketing and advertising promotions. Ensures that this information is disseminated to retail staff and that business is conducted in accordance with such goals, policies and procedures. Maintains and submits a master branch schedule to the Regional Manager. (25%) 2. Ensures customer needs are being handled in a courteous and professional manner by entire retail staff. Coordinates the activities of the retail operations area by assigning work, answering questions, solving problems, helping with complex transactions and sensitive customer relation problems. (15%) 3. Completes performance evaluations, and hires, disciplines, promotes, transfers, and terminates retail staff. (10%) 4. Ensures department security system is maintained in good working order and updates the staff concerning security procedures and policies, including maintaining the proper levels of working cash and cash reserve. Is responsible to make sure that each teller and Teller operations unit balances at the close of each business day and all monies are secured in line with established policies and procedures. Assists and/or manages the vault balancing and all related accounts maintaining inventory of checks, money orders, traveler’s checks, and other negotiable items in the retail area. (10%) 5. Coaches retail staff to achieve referral standards and sales goals through effectively recognizing and responding to sales/referral opportunities. (15%) 6. Works with Regional Manager and branch staff to achieve and maintain branch goals in production, expense control, fee income and operational efficiencies. (15%) 7. Performs retail transactions, including teller, new account and consumer lending, as customer traffic and branch scheduling demands. (5%)

PERSONAL FINANCES: Must have the ability to manage personal finances.
NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES: 1. Knowledge of bank products and services. 2. Knowledge of bank’s organizational structure, policies and operating procedures. 3. Thorough knowledge of retail operations to answer questions and resolve problems. 4. Basic understanding of on-line computer system to enter and retrieve information and the ability to operate various office equipment such as: typewriter, adding machine, coin and currency counter, copy machine, facsimile. 5. Computer skills to include Microsoft Office products, specifically Word and Excel at an intermediate level. 6. Ability to communicate both oral and written, with customers and co-workers in a professional manner.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: 1. High school graduate or equivalent. 2. Two to three years of increasingly responsible experience in teller related functions. 3. One to two years of previous bank sales experience.
