Payroll Staff Accountant - Accounting Department - Full-Time

OrthoNebraska is seeking a Payroll Staff Accountant to join our Accounting Department. This integral role provides support and expertise in day-to-day payroll needs and various annual reports and projects. The Payroll Staff Accountant works closely with fellow team members, staff and stakeholders every day. If you think this may be a fit for you, apply today!

What you would do in this role:

  • Process and maintain bi-weekly payroll; analyze and ensure data is correct for exempt and non-exempt employees
  • Compile and input payroll data such as garnishments, FMLA/STD, and deductible benefits adjustments.
  • Assist managers and employees concerning payroll discrepancies, answers inquiries, and payroll policies.
  • Reconcile and prepare W-2s
  • Perform various journal entries, account reconciliations and provides general ledger support.
  • Take part in month end and year end closing process and year end audit. Review and monitor completeness of general ledger closing status.
  • Assist in the preparation of various reports: Annual Budget, Month Projected Income Statement and Medicare Cost Report.
  • Prepare bi-weekly Productivity Report.

Here’s what makes for an ideal candidate:

  • Accounting Degree or related major or a combination of 6 or more years of Business education and experience in related position.
  • Minimum one year of healthcare and payroll accounting experience
  • Knowledge of current payroll processing laws and regulations.
  • Experience working in various payroll and accounting systems is encouraged.  Experience with Ultimate Software a plus!
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office and GL systems.
  • Strong analytical skills, the ability to troubleshoot and reconcile data from disparate systems.
  • Customer service focused.
  • Works well in a team environment and independently.
