Job Description

NorthStar Financial Services Group, LLC (“NorthStar”) is seeking a Public Relations and Communications Manager to be responsible for overseeing media promotion, client and internal communications for all NorthStar brands including (Orion Advisor Services, CLS Investments, and FTJ FundChoice).


Responsibilities:     

PUBLIC RELATIONS

  • Works with the executive level, internal thought leaders and marketing team to research and drive the strategy of public relation campaigns that support various company-wide and specific goals
  • Manages relationship with outside public relations firm to consistently provide fresh and timely content, communicates the strategic priorities of the companies, and positions key company spokespersons as industry experts
  • Effectively delegates public relations related tasks to the team and ensures execution of goals, timelines, and projects
  • Works with team to develop specific tactics to address PR initiatives, such as white paper development, contributed content, etc.

MARKETING COMMUNICATION STRATEGY

  • Works with marketing execution and strategy teams to determine how larger campaigns can be supported by communications, content, and public relations
  • Develops communication and messaging strategies to deliver critical organizational updates to both internal, client and industry-wide audiences in creative and innovative ways
  • Works with strategic partners to determine messaging contribution opportunities; ensures the team is executing and provides guidance on content
  • Works closely with other departments to create, coordinate or disseminate market updates, economic research, responses to world events, direct client communication, newsletters, whitepapers, general market overviews, webinars, and more  
  • Remains current on communication and creative trends by participating in ongoing education, including seminars, conferences, and industry events  

COMMUNICATION TEAM MANAGEMENT

  • Manages a team of Marketing Communication Specialists to set timelines, compose, and edit recurring client and internal communication pieces by assigning tasks and overseeing execution
  • Reviews, edits and provides feedback to internal resources regarding communication and marketing deliverables in a timely manner
  • Ensures day-to-day deliverables assigned to Marketing Communication Specialists are on-time and high-quality
  • Manage client and internal communication plans and editorial calendars
  • Identifies internal and client subject matter experts and leverages the knowledge of those individuals to inform communication development

EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, Journalism or related field required
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in marketing communications required
    • Minimum of 1 - 3 years of management/leadership experience preferred
    • Experience working within the financial services industry preferred
  • Ability to obtain the Orion Industry Certification within 90 days of employment
