Our client is seeking to hire a Mental Health Therapist to join their growing team. The selected individual will be responsible for providing outpatient therapy (individual, family, and marital) to a varied clientele of adults and youth. The team member will have the option to work via Telehealth from the Lincoln office; will primarily be housed out of the Beatrice office. Position Summary
The Mental Health Therapist is responsible for providing direct clinical services and related activities to clients in one or more of the following programs:

  • Adult/Child Outpatient Mental Health: Therapist’s main responsibilities are providing assessment, treatment, discharge planning, emergency services, clinical care coordination, and case consultation/management services in a community mental health setting. Services will be provided on an individual, marital, and family basis.
  • YAP: Intervention based program for students who have been identified by SCIP, or other school intervention teams, as having potential behavioral health issues. The program therapists will provide screenings/assessment for behavioral health issues, non- therapeutic interventions, case management and referral services.

Job Expectations

  • Maintain a caseload to achieve the productivity requirement of 1000-1100 billable clinical hours per fiscal year.
  • Performs timely and thorough professional quality Assessments that result in a broad picture of treatment needs (adults and youth), including co-occurring disorders and trauma informed care when appropriate.
  • Clinical diagnosis, assessments, treatment plan, and progress notes are congruent and adhere to best practices and quality standards of care.
  • Documents symptoms, course of treatment and provides comprehensive clinical services (including co-occurring disorders and trauma informed care) for all populations.
  • Provides crisis intervention services to stabilize clients. Works collaboratively with clients to effectively address mental health issues.
  • Identifies, provides and/or arranges for case management services ensuring quality continuum of care.
  • Provides consultation and education to fellow staff, businesses, or community agencies in regards to clinical issues. Maintains good public relations and develops cooperative working associations.
  • Functions within the appropriate licensure scope of practice, and maintains license in good standing
  • Participate in a rotating On Call schedule requiring after hours crisis line coverage. The schedule is weekly (Friday to Friday).
  • Attend and/or participate in agency All-Staff and Service Center meetings.
  • Therapists will assist and participate in clinical program planning, development, and implementation as requested by the Mental Health Director or other leadership staff.
  • Implement performance improvement strategies from peer review, evaluations, or other sources.
  • Participate in community, educational, and consultative programs.
  • Works cooperatively with billing and/or support staff to assist in client payment and financial operations.
  • Provides supervision to provisionally licensed staff or other staff as needed.
  • Provides quality and timely emergency services by phone, face-to-face, hospital or jail-based services.
  • Provides on-call emergency back up during business hours as needed.
  • Completes paperwork relevant to billing/insurance procedures including pre-certification and re-certifications for care.
  • Performs duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Master’s degree from an accredited university in a Human Service program, which provided preparation for professional counseling required.
  • Obtain and maintain appropriate licensure within reasonable timeframe. Will consider PLMHP, LMHP, or LIMHP in the State of Nebraska.
  • Demonstrate effective written or verbal communication skills; clearly conveys ideas and information in a professional manner in all documents and correspondence.
  • Proficient basic computer skills and familiarization with MS Office.
  • Familiarity with generally accepted concepts, techniques, and procedures of psychotherapeutic treatment for adults and children.
  • Capable of functioning as a team member including skills of cooperation, consultation, and appropriate referral.
  • Implement objective decision-making skills and analyze available information available. Consider relevant factors; accepts decision making responsibility within delegated level of authority; makes decisions promptly and effectively; accepts responsibilities for decisions.
  • Time Management - Organizes work to use time effectively and efficiently; sets up own daily work schedule based upon work goals; follows through and completes work assignments in a timely manner. Able to meet deadlines per Organization Policies.
  • Self-Development - Seeks out and performs work tasks which are generally beyond what is required of the job; puts forth effort to increase work related knowledge and/or skills.
  • Interpersonal - Attends and actively participates in staff, team, supervision, and professional development meetings as assigned.
