    Our client is seeking a Crisis Response Co-Responder Therapist to join their team. The selected individual will be responsible for accompanying law enforcement officers responding to calls for or from consumers who appear to have a behavioral health concern; as well as assessing the immediate needs of individuals, assisting in de-escalation and with linkage to appropriate mental health, substance abuse, or medical providers as appropriate.

    Key Accountabilities

    Crisis Response:

    • Conducts clinical assessments and inpatient psychiatric screens as a part of the diagnostic process, ongoing provision of services, and/or crisis intervention.

    • Assesses individual risk for suicide, homicide and other safety related concerns.

    • Identifies individual needs and diagnoses substance use and/or mental health disorders.

    • Provide short-term therapeutic intervention to reduce the primary symptoms and stabilize the client.

    • Develops complex treatment and intervention plans to address the clinical needs of individuals in single or multiple areas of focus.

    • Works closely with law enforcement and crisis intervention personnel to problem solve complex situations and develop plans for immediate and appropriate interventions.

    • Follow law enforcement directives while on scene to ensure safety.

    • Carry a small caseload as necessary.

    Coordination and Follow Up:

    • Collaborates with other community agencies to address immediate individual needs; encourages the establishment and maintenance of support systems; collaborates with other providers in the development, implementation, and review of plans.

    • Crisis Response Co-Responder and a CIT officer will designate time each week to do follow up visits with high risk individuals.

    • Refer to and coordinate necessary psychiatric evaluation and medication monitoring to ensure client stabilization.

    • Educate clients on their illness and, if on medication, the necessity to take psychotropic medication as directed to reduce symptoms.

    • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to address safety concerns in the community.

    Record Management:

    • Completes and submits clinical documentation regarding services provided.

    • Utilizes electronic health record to document interactions.

    • Maintains accurate data entry and reporting measures.

    • Maintain and report required data based on program plan and logic model.

    • Assist in program related activities to include data collection, reports, conferences, and relevant training.



    • Master’s Degree from an accredited college in a Human Service program that provided preparation for professional therapy or counseling required.

    • Licensure as a Mental Health Practitioner or Certified Social Work in the state of Nebraska. (LMHP or CSW required; LIMHP or CMSW preferred, PLMHP will be considered).

    • Knowledge of assessment techniques and determination of mental health status using the DSM-V criteria and guidelines.

    • Working knowledge of mental health and substance abuse treatment services.

    • Experience working with both youth and adults preferred.

    • Excellent conflict de-escalation skills.

    • Strong verbal and written proficiencies of the English language is required; bilingual preferred.

    • Skilled in maintaining effective working relationships with a wide range of personalities and law enforcement in a professional and courteous manner.

    • Demonstrated skills and competencies to work with vulnerable and diverse populations and individuals experiencing behavioral health needs.

    • Cooperates and collaborates with program area staff, volunteers, and other Agency staff.

    • Is dependable and punctual regarding scheduling and attendance.

    • Ability to multi-task, problem solve, attention to detail, organizational skills, and use discretion and judgment within areas of responsibility.

    • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office Suite.

    • Valid driver’s License, current auto insurance, and ability to drive for organization business

    • Must be able to pass fingerprinting and background check procedures.

    Working Conditions:

    • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.

    • Ability to work with individuals in a stressful environment and frustrating circumstances, while demonstrating controlled emotional affect in difficult situations.

    • Ability to negotiate and problem solve to resolve internal and external conflicts.

    Physical Requirements:

    • Must be able to sit at desk and work at a computer screen for long periods of time.

    • Potentially stressful work environment.

    • Ability to travel as required.

    • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
