Key Accountabilities
Crisis Response:
- Conducts clinical assessments and inpatient psychiatric screens as a part of the diagnostic process, ongoing provision of services, and/or crisis intervention
- Assesses individual risk for suicide, homicide and other safety related concerns
- Identifies individual needs and diagnoses substance use and/or mental health disorders
- Provide short-term therapeutic intervention to reduce the primary symptoms and stabilize the client
- Develops complex treatment and intervention plans to address the clinical needs of individuals in single or multiple areas of focus
- Works closely with law enforcement and crisis intervention personnel to problem solve complex situations and develop plans for immediate and appropriate interventions
- Follow law enforcement directives while on scene to ensure safety
Coordination and Follow up:
- Collaborates with other community agencies to address immediate individual needs; encourages the establishment and maintenance of support systems; collaborates with other providers in the development, implementation, and review of plans
- CR and a CIT officer will designate time each week to do follow up visits with high risk individuals
- Refer to and coordinate necessary psychiatric evaluation and medication monitoring to ensure client stabilization
- Educate clients on their illness and, if on medication, the necessity to take psychotropic medication as directed to reduce symptoms
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to address safety concerns in the community
Record Management:
- Completes and submits clinical documentation regarding services provided
- Utilizes electronic health record to document interactions
- Maintains accurate data entry and reporting measures
Performance Metrics:
- Maintain and report data as requested based on outlined logic model
Grant Management:
- Assist in grant related activities to include data collection, reports, conferences and relevant trainings
Qualifications
- Master’s degree from an accredited college in a human service program that provided preparation for professional counseling
- Licensure as a mental health practitioner (LMHP required, LIMHP preferred) in the state of Nebraska
- Knowledge of assessment techniques and determination of mental health status using the DSM V criteria and guidelines
- Working knowledge of mental health and substance abuse treatment services
- Experience working with both youth and adults preferred
- Excellent conflict de-escalation skills
- Excellent written and verbal skills
- Demonstrated understanding of and ability to work with persons of diverse cultural backgrounds
- Regular and predictable attendance
- Valid vehicle operator license, proof of liability insurance and ability to drive for organization business
