Description
Our client is searching for an Employment Specialist with expertise in refugee and non-profit sector to join their team. This team member will be responsible for assisting clients in identifying and obtaining suitable employment that aligns with their skillset. Key Accountabilities
Provide employment case management and support:
- Ensure clients are thoroughly assessed, and then work to create an employability plan
- Help client troubleshoot any challenges and provide referrals when necessary to overcome barriers to employment
- Assist clients in developing individualized job search tools such as a resume
- Work with clients to identify appropriate employment opportunities by utilizing multiple job search tools or sources
- Refer clients to programs to help with skill development, English language acquisition, and/or vocational training
- Assist clients in preparing for interviews and attend interviews with them as needed
- Provide ongoing case management to ensure career development
Work with members of team and foster positive internal collaboration:
- Work with the mentoring programs within agency to connect clients to mentorships
- Collaborate with agency job developer to identify employment opportunities
- Communicate with team members to coordinate case management services in the case of Matching Grant clients but also for other clients as needed
- Ensure interpretation is arranged when necessary
Establish and leverage community partnerships:
- Attend local hiring events hosted by local businesses or community partners
- Work to foster positive relationship with partner organizations serving clients
- Attend meetings or networking events with other community partners
- Act on behalf of clients regarding their case when working with other organizations
- Maintain a positive, respectful demeanor during all contact with staff and the public
Documentation and Reporting:
- Create file for each client with all necessary documentation and ensure information is entered into program databases in a timely fashion
- Assist in compiling data and writing reports, including success stories
- Ensure compliance in protecting confidential client or agency information
Performance Metrics:
- Completed assessments and service plans for clients
- Job searches performed and applications completed
- Jobs obtained
- Referrals completed for outside services to overcome barriers to employment
Qualifications
- Fluent in English as well as refugee language (Arabic, Burmese, Karen, Kurdish, Nepali or Somali) preferred
- 1-2 years experience in refugee employment services preferred
- 1-2 years experience with case management preferred
- Experience working with individuals from other cultures is preferred
- Ability to independently problem solve and proactively address challenges
- Very organized with strong attention to detail
