The Position:  A Foster Care Specialist is directly responsible for supporting, equipping, and educating new and current foster parents on how to effectively care for at-risk children and their families. You would help ensure a safe, caring and nurturing environment within each foster home and maintain regular contact with the youth and foster families.

Our families are important to us.  They rely on us for strength, knowledge and understanding.  This isn't a typical 9-5 job.  It's a full-time position that requires flexible hours that may include evenings and weekends, in order to be available at times that are convenient to families.  That also means you'll have some work hours that could be freed up for personal commitments.  Because we are a 24/7 support system to our families, you will be responsible for participating in an on-call rotation.  In addition, this position could be responsible for transporting certain youth to/from school.

Typical responsibilities include:

  • Facilitating placement of youth
  • Preparing youth and family for permanency utilizing TBRI (trust-based, relational) strategies
  • Completing service planning and reporting
  • Providing support for children and families
  • Assessing/monitoring safety and ensuring well-being
  • Maintaining confidentiality and comprehensive client files

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in social work or human service related field required.
  2. Have a valid driver’s license, able to obtain necessary auto liability insurance coverage, and have a good driving record.
  3. Have favorable background checks, including reference checks, and drug screen.  
  4. Must be spiritually mature, having demonstrated commitment to stable spiritual practices and ongoing personal development.

Successful candidates will have excellent phone skills, are tenacious, computer-savvy, and organized.  They will fulfill the above responsibilities with patience, kindness, determination, and responsiveness.
