Children’s Square USA is nationally accredited and adheres to the ethical principles and standards of the Association of Fundraising Professionals and related entities that provide guidance and best practices for events, volunteers, marketing and related activities carried out by the organization. 

This position is responsible for sustaining, strengthening and growing the community engagement and support of community members, corporations, educational institutions, foundations, churches, alumni, consumers and the general public.  This is accomplished through a wide range of events, volunteer opportunities, annual giving, grants and public relations, including talks and tours, communications, and marketing. 

A broader use of social media is desired as is grant writing and further developing existing donors / partners in our work.  This individual will both direct and supervise the development and community relations functions and programming.

This individual will serve as the primary staff person to the Development and Community Relations Committee of the Board of Directors and serve on leadership and other committees as appropriate.  The individual serving in this role is expected to be active and visible in the community and to foster a philanthropic and community engagement culture within the agency workforce.

Responsibilities

  • Effectively present to groups of various sizes and backgrounds, facilitate discussions and capture action items
  • Network and build strong relationships in the community and professional groups
  • Effectively lead, coach, inspire and develop team members
  • Exhibit exceptional project management and negotiation skills
  • Analyze issues on a large scale and apply logic and critical thinking to solve problems and make decisions
  • Embrace the organization’s mission, lead by example, and lead with strengths and positives
  • Set “transformational and exceptional” business goals with “best practices” initiatives as the desired end goal
  • Must be willing and able to work flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends for the delivery of community relations activities and events
  • Position may require some day and overnight travel 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (minimum) and three years related experience, preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in 3 or more of the identified activity areas
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential job duties and responsibilities, including at least three years in a leadership position
  • Prior supervisory experience and experience developing and managing budgets
  • Strong interpersonal skills to include exceptional / proven oral and written communication skills
  • Broad knowledge base of relevant programs and services available to children and families
  • Strategic and operational planning skills including budgeting, development and implementation
  • Ability to articulate the connection between activities and responsibilities, why and how to develop people accordingly
  • Technological skills and capabilities with experience in relevant software
  • Working knowledge and ability to prepare reports and retain records
  • Appreciation for the nature of our work and the programs and services offered
  • Portfolio of relevant training and demonstrated experience
  • Sufficiently seasoned and experienced to be able to operate with confidence, authority and accountability with limited supervision
  • Must be able to maintain a high degree of professionalism
  • Ability to thrive in an ambiguous and rapidly changing environment
  • Proven ability to multi-task and prioritize deliverables with ability to change / re-prioritize as needed
  • Valid driver's license and automotive insurance that meets Agency policy is required
