Job Posting: Database Administrator, Proxibid

The Database Administrator is responsible for the data and database integrity. This person will be responsible for making sure databases are always available and running at peak efficiency. They will be responsible for backups and recovery for all test and production environments. They will work closely with the development to implement new data storage and processing technologies, especially related to cloud computing.

Job Functions:

  • Design and document database architecture. Data Modeling.
  • Build database scheme, tables, procedures and permissions
  • Set up data sharing and disk partitioning
  • Develop database utilities and automated reporting
  • Create shell scripts for task automation
  • Create, test and execute data management languages
  • Analyze and sustain capacity and performance requirements
  • Analyze, consolidate and tune database for optimal efficiency
  • Monitor systems and platforms for availability.
  • Oversee backup, clustering, mirroring, replication and failover
  • Restore and recover corrupted databases
  • Install and test upgrades and patches
  • Implement security and encryption

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Deep Knowledge of MS SQL Server, MYSQL Server, T-SQL/SQL query languages
  • Experience with NOSQL technologies, especially related to cloud/big data computing
  • Linux and Windows server administration a plus
  • Data Warehousing / Analytics a plus
  • Strong problem solving and strategic thinking skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication, and presentation skills
  • Ability to be self-motivated and take initiative to lead others

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in related field
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience is required
