Develop, coordinate and deliver training related to company, engineering, safety and operations policies, procedures and standards for department employees and contractors.
Provide leadership, technical expertise, vision, and functional support to ensure successful staffing, onboarding and training of engineering and other technical department employees and contractors.
Manage training curriculum, expectations and opportunities for engineering and other technical teams, sourcing and developing technical training courses in a timely and cost-effective manner. Assist in managing technical training budget.
Ensure engineering staff is sufficiently trained to develop and manage engineering projects within Northern's engineering standards and procedures.
Collaborate with subject matter experts internally as well as within the industry to ensure engineering and technical departments are current regarding industry standards and developments.
Act as the lead for onboarding and initial training for all new engineering team members and ensure appropriate workspace setup including hardware and access to necessary software.
Manage engineering intern program in line with engineering strategic vision including prioritizing schools, maintaining/developing university relationships, and participation in career fairs. Participate in interviews and recommend candidates as needed. Review and assess engineering's intern program to ensure program success.
Sponsor continuous improvement initiative, ensuring active engineering team participation, quality of standards and procedure updates.
Lead training audit program.

This is a multi-level posting. Candidates may be considered for any of the posted level, depending on their level of experience and depth of expertise.
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, education, instructional design, engineering or other technical field. (Typically six years of related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a bachelor’s degree.)
Expert knowledge and six or more years of gas pipeline experience or other similar technical qualifications.
Three or more years of technical training, mentoring and/or supervising experience.
Prefer candidates with experience and/or knowledge in engineering and operations related standards and procedures; i.e., DOT, FERC, OSHA and Northern company documents.
Candidates will have experience with curriculum development and/or technical training delivery.
Demonstrated leadership and strong interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written). Experienced developing and presenting material to a variety of audiences.
Must be technically skilled, open-minded with an eye for innovative solutions, possess excellent organizational skills and an ability to thrive in a fast-paced and demanding environment. Strong relationship building and communication skills are critical.
