The senior applications systems analyst provides advanced technical expertise and guidance in the design, programming, testing, documentation and implementation of more complex computer applications and systems. Provide senior technical support of NNG gas control applications including the continuing development, implementation and enhancement of the SCADA system. Provides application development and DBA coordination and support for the gas control support team, assisting in budget and technology planning and providing daily technical guidance and mentoring to other staff.
Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Job Function)
Act in a first and second level support capacity for gas control applications. The individual will be responsible for maintaining the gas control applications by providing daily assistance and resolution for production problems and will assist or lead the team in SCADA database design and management issues, project management, gathering user requirements, design, development and implementation of system, application and program enhancements of the SCADA system and related applications and interfaces. Provides application development and DBA coordination and support for the gas control support team.
Participates in an after hours on-call rotation and there is occasional travel to the gas control offsite to provide technical support. Individual will be a key participant in the Gas Control Emergency Reaction Plan.
Evaluate user requests for new or modified computer programs to determine feasibility, cost and time required, compatibility with current systems and computer capabilities. Consult with users to identify current operating procedures and clarify program objectives.
Design, code, test, document, implement and maintain more complex application programs.
Perform advanced system analysis and design functions.
Perform research and fact-finding to develop or modify application programs; work with vendors to review quality, adaptability and compatibility of their products.
Provide customer support for package software and associated interfaces.
Provide advanced technical leadership to staff; may direct work of applications programmer analyst and applications system analyst/programmer in the completion of assigned projects. Plan, schedule and assign work based on established priorities.
Provide advanced technical input to assist in development of project planning.
Perform any additional responsibilities as requested or assigned.
A bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science degree. (Typically six years of related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a bachelor's degree.)
Four years of experience providing IT solutions and/or production operations support.
Experience with mini, mainframe and PC Based Development, Object Orientation, Neural Nets, Client Server/Distributed Computing, Middleware including DCE and COM and C - experience with C++, WEB, JAVA, Visual Basic and Access.
Experience with Oracle and Microsoft Sequel Server including stored procedures, queries, tables, triggers, indices and views.
Experience developing real-time applications - experience with SCADA and DCS systems would be very desirable.
Gas pipeline industry experience is very desirable.
Experience with MS NT Server and Client, Windows 2000, MS Office products and Open VMS is required.

Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
Support the Company's employee policies and procedures, including workplace safety rules.
May be required to participate in after hours & weekend on-call rotation to provide 7X24 support for Gas Control. Occasional overnight travel.
Will become a member of the NNG Emergency Reaction Plan teams and travel to the Gas Control Offsite during emergency activation and for yearly testing of the Gas Control Offsite.
Required to be included in the DOT random drug testing procedure.
