Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities
Provide advanced technical support to system users as well as other information technology groups to help ensure effectiveness of information technology systems in enabling Northern Natural Gas users to conduct day-to-day business. The support includes, but is not limited to, answering user questions, interpreting system functionalities, troubleshooting issues, completing data and ad hoc report requests, performing vendor application administration, coordinating issue resolution with application vendors and end users, documenting application fixes and user procedures, ensuring systems and processes are functioning normally and performing other critical support functions.
Document processes and provide advanced technical support for regularly occurring and unusual activities including monthly close support, administering user security, unlocking licenses and restarting services.
Work with vendors to review quality and adaptability of the applications; submit and manage technical product improvement requests, custom work requests and technical assistance and troubleshooting requests.
Assist in the management of all phases of vendor software lifecycle, including analysis, requirements gathering, technical and business design, development, testing, training, implementation and production support. Work with vendor to understand product roadmap for upgrades and patches.
Collaborate with application users to analyze and develop business requirements for enhancements and problem resolutions.
Provide technical input to assist in development of project plans.
Perform any additional responsibilities as requested or assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, engineering or related technical field or equivalent work experience. (Typically six years of related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a bachelor’s degree.
Five or more years of demonstrated experience in business analyst, programmer analyst and/or systems analyst role.
Strong personal computer hardware and software experience with Microsoft operating systems (Windows 7) and with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Five or more years of demonstrated experience using Microsoft SQL Server or other relational database for developing stored procedures; experience in identifying/analyzing/resolving related performance issues is a plus.
Experience using or administering any of the following vendor software applications is a plus: Geofields Pipeline GIS and Integrity Management Solutions; Flow-Cal Measurement Data Management; Infor Enterprise Asset Management; UiPath Robotic Process Automation.
Knowledge of the gas industry is a plus.
Experience with project methodologies including project management tools, estimating, and documentation of requirements, use cases and test plans.
Excellent oral and written communication skills and experience working with business users, customers, vendors, manufacturers, and others. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
May be required to participate in after hours and weekend on-call rotation.
