Purpose of Position
Under moderate supervision, the financial analyst assists in preparation of the company’s financial forecast including gathering of forecast inputs and assumptions, model development, variance analysis, analysis of key inputs and analysis of results. This position also will assist in sensitivity analysis and other financial analysis completed by the department.
Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities
Complete timely updates to existing financial forecasts including, but not limited to, gathering, interpreting and incorporating financial and statistical variables.
Complete timely updates to the ten-year financial budget including, but not limited to, gathering, interpreting and incorporating financial and statistical variables into the ten-year financial budget.
Complete variance and other financial analysis on forecast and actual data including, but not limited to, comparisons and reconciliations to prior forecasts, budget comparisons and comparisons to prior year results. Develop and complete meaningful reports and ad hoc projects for management and Business Unit personnel.
Support other financial analysis completed in the department.
Provide technical input to assist in development of project planning.
Perform any additional responsibilities as requested or assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting or related field; or equivalent related work experience (Typically six years of related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a bachelor’s degree.)
Two or more years related work experience in finance or accounting.
Strong research and analytical skills; knowledge of financial analysis methods and tools.
Strong software skills in Microsoft Excel and Word. Experience with other software applications including PowerPoint, e-mail and mainframe systems. Understanding of programming logic or programming experience preferred.
