Finance Manager

Chief Operating Officer (COO)

FSLA Status:

Full-Time; Non-Exempt

 

Job Summary:

The Finance Manager is responsible for monitoring and executing all financial transactions for the organization.

 

 

Essential Job Functions

Percent of time

Responsible for the preparation, balancing, and record keeping of all financial transactions, including accounts payables and receivables utilizing QuickBooks software.  Prepare and record all invoices and deposits.

 

35%

Produce weekly program reports and overall organizational finances and budget comparisons. Prepare monthly profit and loss statements and balance statements for board of directors, and monthly board treasurer review files.

 

25%

Manage participant payments using ProCare software for private pay and state childcare subsidy authorizations billing. Work directly with participants to ensure prompt payment of fees or childcare subsidy eligibility. Assess, monitor, and disburse scholarships for families.  Monitors and places food orders for program.

 

20%

Manage and process payroll.

 

10%

Assist with seasonal and annual financial projects including CD renewals, audit preparation and budget projections and finance policies and procedures review.

 

5%

Manage organizational contracts (insurance, leases, health benefits, etc.).  Perform cost analysis reports as appropriate. Support leadership team in facilities management.

Performs related duties as assigned by the COO or as the situation dictates

 

 

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to plan and prioritize multiple projects while being adaptable in a constantly changing environment.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office, Internet, QuickBooks.
  • Ability to learn agency specific software such as ProCare and Paycor.
  • Ability to problem solve and quickly adapt when needed.
  • Excellent communication skills: work effectively as a team (communicate with others, resolve conflicts, and offer solutions to problems).
  • Ability to interact and communicate effectively with participants of diverse backgrounds.
  • Maintaining strict confidentiality.

 

 

Education/Experience Prerequisites:

  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in finance, accounting or administration is required. Previous experience in managing similar programs and excellent communication skills are essential.     
  • Experience and proficiency with QuickBooks required.
  • A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation is required.  Hiring is contingent upon approval from the Nebraska Central Registry of Child Abuse and Neglect, Nebraska Adult Protective Services Registry, Kids Can’s vehicle insurance company and submission of a felony/misdemeanor statement.

 

 

Ongoing/In-Service Requirements:

  • Participate in ongoing training to maintain understanding of regulatory updates and GAAP principles.

 

Physical & Mental Requirements:       

  • Must be able to walk the building (including staircases) and assist children in and out of vans.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 20 lbs.
  • Must be prepared to handle accidents and emergencies at any time.

 

 

Working Conditions

Normal working conditions; work primarily in office, program rooms, gymnasium, kitchen, playground area and field as well as off-site meetings.
