Job Description

Open Door Mission is a Gospel Rescue Mission that meets the needs of individuals and families while inspiring HOPE for lasting change, providing long-term solutions and programs that break the cycle of homelessness and poverty. 

Major Gift Officer will be in charge to develop and monitor donor prospect plans to ensure the donors in his/her portfolio are being effectively managed. Manage a donor portfolio of at least 100 top priority donors, and at least 300 other donors to be dealt with less intensity.

Job Duties:

  • Manage assigned donor portfolio to meet/exceed financial goals.
  • Maintain accurate records of all calls and contacts.
  • Increase portfolio revenue-for example: average 10 personal visits each week.(Ex. tour, meal, coffee, home visit or host a public event.)
  • Cultivate donor relationships
  • Develop and implement new ways to educate and show appreciation to donors.
  • Proactively develop personal relationships with donors through phone conversations, personal meetings, correspondence, home visits and pastoral care.
  • Make every effort to encourage donors to learn more about the Open Door Mission by taking tours of the facilities, viewing our promotional videos, and being made aware of volunteer opportunities.
  • Attend special events for purpose of connecting with donors.
  • Conduct tours of ODM campus.
  • Have one face to face meeting with top priority donors per year and be able to give Premium.
  • “Make an Ask for cash” one time per week, at least.

Essential Skills & Qualities:

  • Must have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and participate in weekly church services.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to connect with people.
  • A desire and ability to provide pastoral care to those who are hurting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proactive & anticipates the needs of Ececutive. 
  • Ability to work flexible hours.
  • Detailed-oriented, organized & resourceful.  
  • Advanced computer skills that include knowledge of MS Office and Internet.
  • Experience in public speaking.
  • Good driving record.

Working Conditions/Physical Factors:

  • Must be able to sit at desk for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Maintain have a valid driver’s license and be able to use own vehicle for business purposes.
  • Ability to be outside in all types of weather conditions.


  • B.A. Degree (or equivalent) in marketing, public relations.
  • Experience in fund raising and sales/marketing.
