Title:               Director of Development

Department:  Advancement

Reports to:     Chief Advancement Officer

Mission:

Omaha Children’s Museum is a non-profit organization with an annual budget of $5.2 million, 75 employees and serves over 350,000 people annually.  The mission of the Director of Development is to drive strategic business and projects that coincide with Omaha Children’s Museum’s annual goals. The Director of Development will oversee special Initiatives and Planning for Ad Hoc Museum projects. The Director of Development is accountable for ensuring that all special initiatives and ad hoc projects are in line with strategic goals of operation and provide opportunities to grow financial resources.

Outcomes:

 

  • 60% Manage the day to day operations of OCM’s Development Team
    • Oversee management of OCM’s Development personnel and budget of $3.2 million
    • Oversee fundraising and communication with high level community donors including the prospecting of potential new donors
    • Develop and execute OCM’s 2018 development plan and assist with communication to foundations, corporations and individuals
    • Lead the development reconciliation process with the Chief Financial Officer on a monthly basis
    • Work in collaboration with the Advancement and Database Coordinator to ensure accurate data entry, gift processing and donor recognition

 

  • 20%  Assist the Executive Director and Chief Advancement Officer for the preparation of a future capital fundraising campaign and oversee Development events such as the For the Kids Benefit and the Great Friends to Kids luncheon

 

  • 20% Oversee strategic direction and implement planning strategies related to Museum growth and special initiatives.
    • Work with the Corporate Relations Manager to secure community partners for large scale traveling exhibits and in house temporary exhibits
    • Work with COO and Exhibits team along with community partners to manage the $750,000 budget and fundraising plan for United States of Food, opening in 2019
