Summary: 

The Prevention & Education Team at the WCA is leading change in community norms, values, and behaviors around power-based personal violence through outcome-driven best practices and building capacity for trauma-informed professional development. This position is responsible for supporting the objectives of the WCA's prevention and education program and carrying out day-to-day duties of the program.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Organize, provide leadership for, and facilitate educational and prevention programs for youth to include school-based violence prevention and risk-reduction programs, presentations for adult community groups, and training for professional groups.
  • Assist in development and implementation of logic modeling and evaluation strategies for any new programming.
  • Create new and strengthen existing collaborations with community groups, agencies and leaders, and find new opportunities to provide education and prevention.
  • Stay up to date on research on best-practices, changes in the field of violence prevention, issues related to the intersectionality of domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking and stalking, and apply research to programming provided to community.
  • Participate on task forces and committees, including child abuse & neglect case reviews involving domestic violence and/or sexual assault.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

 

Education/Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Education, Gender Studies, Criminal Justice or related field required.

 

Qualifications:

  • Ability to work with a diverse client population and cultural backgrounds.
  • Maintain an understanding of domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking issues.
  • Previous experience with training and facilitating groups.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Demonstrated skills in teamwork and collaboration.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong presentation and public speaking skills.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred, but not required.
  • Good working knowledge of computer programs including Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Internet and database programs.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment.
  • Regular and predictable attendance required.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to drive for organization business.
  • Ability to work a varied schedule.
  • Maintain confidentiality standards of the organization and in accordance with HIPPA standards.

The employee will be in a normal office environment while performing the duties of this job and will be required to sit, stand, walk and occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.  In addition, employee will be required to drive to other locations and carry presentation materials to conduct company business.
