A BIT ABOUT US

Founded in 1875, our agency has grown over the years to address most of the challenges children, adults, families, and communities face across the lifespan, including substance use, child abuse and neglect, domestic violence/sexual assault, human trafficking, homelessness, juvenile justice, mental health, neighborhood distress, and poverty. Today, we offer 42 programs from 20 locations in east central Nebraska and southwest Iowa. THE OPPORTUNITY

This position serves as a substance use and mental health therapist to individuals and families participating in our Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) programs in the Omaha/Council Bluffs Metro Area. PSH provides financial assistance and supportive services to individuals and families who have experienced long term homelessness and those with a disability. The goal of the program is to assist people with obtaining and maintaining housing through supportive services such as case management and mainly in home therapy services to help support skills needed in order to maintain housing independently. This position will work in collaboration with a team of case managers.

Compensation: $49,300 to $69,000 (per year) based upon experience.
Work Scheduled: Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

You could be perfect for this opportunity if you have a Master’s Degree in Counseling or Social work and your LMHP or LIMHP in addition to at least three years of experience.  We are looking for someone who has a passion working with individuals and families who have experienced trauma in their lives, embodies the tenants of trauma informed care, someone who is organized, detail-oriented and enjoys working out in the community as well as in a team setting.

THE SKILL SET

Within 3 months, you’ll:

  • Complete onboarding program designed to get you up to speed on our business, vision, departments, programming, and team and gain an understanding about how your role fits into Heartland Family Service’s broader organization mission and strategy.
  • Attend new employee orientation training to learn the mission of the organization, how we are doing, where we are going, and our overall agency philosophy.
  • Work with team and manager to understand work expectations and set goals for the first three months in the role
  • Get to know our policies, procedures, tasks and processes
  • Shadow other team members
  • Partner with manager to define key success metrics for your role and how to keep track of your progress

3- 6 months, you’ll:

  • Be introduced to the clients you will be working with
  • Continue to build your caseload
  • Start providing therapeutic services to clients and manage your own schedule
  • Attend trainings necessary for the position

6 -12 months onwards, you’ll:

  • Conduct evaluations
  • Provide on-going counseling to individuals, couples and families
  • Establish a treatment plan with client participation, which specifies treatment structure, outcomes, goals and objectives
  • Provide mental health crisis intervention as needed
  • Refer clients to other HFS programs and other community services as necessary
  • Complete all documentation for grant, clinical and billing purposes and meet timeliness standards
  • Attend team meetings for review of client progress and coordination of care
  • Meet with program supervisor and clinical supervisor for regular supervision
