This Program Director will serve as director of a short-term housing program and Crisis Stabilization Residential Services. The target population includes people living with a mental health diagnosis who are transitioning to permanent housing options in the community or are in need of a short stay during a crisis. This position provides supervision and support to staff and the residents as well as coordination of services with other providers. The Program Director will be part of the team that fosters a safe, living environment and also provides case management to make sure residents are connected to services in the community to obtain self-sufficiency.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • -*Screens clients to determine program eligibility.

  • -*Provides and coordinates direct oversight of admissions; coordinating with clinical staff.

  • -*Orients clients to program rules and addresses client non-compliance as necessary to create a safe and secure environment for other residents and staff.

  • -*Supervises the completion of intake/discharge/data collection information with clients.

  • -Monitors and assists with residents’ routine tasks, providing direct care as scheduled.

  • -*Documents client activity, progress and needs per established record keeping procedures.

  • -*Provides regular supervision and support for all direct care program staff. Requires a flexible schedule to have contact with staff on each shift of a 24-hour facility.

  • -*Assists with human resources responsibilities for hiring purposes to include posting openings, screening applicants, setting up interviews, checking references and working through the Ultipro and Cherwell systems for each applicant.

  • -*Supervises, monitors, trains, evaluates and develops direct care program staff.

  • -*Leads the team in providing trauma-informed care to clients. Sets the tone for a safe, enriching environment for clients and staff.

  • -*Assists staff in developing program activities for program clients.

  • -*Coordinates activities of program staff and volunteers.

  • -*Develops monthly staffing schedule and monitors and approves schedules for overtime accrual.

  • -Compiles monthly and quarterly statistical reports.

  • -*Participates in interdisciplinary team meetings to obtain information, provide information, and assist with service planning.

  • -*Assists in facilitating educational participant support groups and training staff to facilitate these groups.

  • -Remains knowledgeable of community resources that provide support services for persons with behavioral health needs and their families.

  • *Maintains updated inventory of supplies, food, training materials, furnishings, and coordinates ordering for additional items or repairs with supervisor.

  • - Oversee compliance of assigned behavioral health services to applicable community standards of care and to State and Federal laws and rules, accreditation entities and other regulatory requirements.

  • *Is available for on-call emergencies and shift coverage.

  • -*Networks with community providers and other agency programs to assist clients in accessing needed community resources.

  • -Evaluates efficiency and effectiveness of community service providers on an ongoing basis to ensure clients are receiving quality care.

  • -*Work with community leaders, funding partners, and other collaborators to improve / streamline processes for program participants.

  • -Develops and maintains program budget.

  • -Participates in agency wide quality improvement teams and workgroups. Guides implementation of any programming, projects, policies, etc. while following COA and other licensing rules.

  • -Oversee data collection as required by community referral sources, agency data collection or research projects.

  • -*Is dependable and punctual regarding scheduling and attendance.

  • -Abides by all specific program and Agency procedures, policies, and requirements.

  • -Develops personal and program related skills through participation in internal and external training   opportunities including printed material and audio and/or visual media.

  • -*Creates, maintains and share as appropriate a dynamic self-care plan.

  • -*Strives to make connections between the agency and the larger community whenever possible in order to contribute to the agency’s ongoing fundraising and friend-raising efforts.

  • -*Essential functions of this job are to be performed on company physical work site.

  • -Performs other program related duties as assigned.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in human services, psychology, social work, sociology or a related field, Master’s Degree preferred
  • 3 or more year’s experience in related field including residential services or other licenses related to this work.
  • 1 year of supervisory experience preferred.
  • Experience working with adults with serious mental illness and substance use preferred
  • Valid driver’s license/ acceptable driving record.
