SUMMARY DESCRIPTION OF WORK

The Prevention Means Progress (PMP)/Drug Free Communities (DFC) Coordinator works in conjunction with the Prevention Means Progress Project Director and Heartland Family Service to implement and carry out pieces of the Drug Free Communities Grant work plan. This person will also be involved in outreach efforts to Schools, Law Enforcement Agencies, Medical Personnel, community members, and Legislators, building interest for participation and direct involvement in Prevention Means Progress and coalition’s activities and strategies.  Decision-making skills and problem solving capabilities are essential qualities.

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., occasional weekend and evenings events.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • *Apply SAMHSA Prevention Strategies and the Strategic Prevention Framework in various populations in communities served by the grant
  • *Develop and coordinate a system for data analysis of coalition activities
  • *Work and communicate well with youth, parents, and professionals
  • *Develop and foster community relationships to provide substance abuse prevention strategies to all sectors of the community
  • *Assist in the implementation of the DFC grant work plan
  • *Comply with grant reporting and submission of paperwork as required by Funder under the supervision of the PMP Project Director
  • *Plan and implement activities as required by grant work plan
  • *Excellent written and verbal communication skills needed to communicate information to PMP Project Director, Funder, and community members
  • Cooperate and collaborate with program area staff, volunteers, and other agency staff
  • *Dependable and punctual regarding scheduling and attendance
  • Perform other program related duties as assigned
  • *Creates, maintains and shares an appropriate and dynamic self-care plan.
  • * Strives to make connections between the agency and the larger community whenever possible
  • * Essential functions of this job is to be performed on company physical work site

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree and two years experience working with youth
  • Ability to work with all ages of youth in diverse settings
  • Basic knowledge of Substance Abuse Prevention and/or Treatment
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills and time management capabilities
  • Valid driver’s license / acceptable driving record
