SUMMARY  DESCRIPTION  OF  WORK

Baby TALK is an early childhood program, which focuses on parent-child bonding through play. We work with clients through home visits, group socializations and interactions within the WIC clinic. Intense Case Management responsibilities begin at this level.  Decision making, problem solving, and highly developed interpersonal skills are critical.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • *Work in two area WIC Clinic waiting room to engage parents and support them in bonding with their children.
  • *Work in family homes to teach parents child development and parent-child bonding.
  • *Participate and/or lead group encounters involving parent-child interaction.
  • *Knowledge of Early Childhood Development and effective parenting to offer families in support of the development of infants and toddlers.
  • *Knowledge of resources available in our community to assist families. (early childhood, housing, public aid, health services, childcare services, legal services etc.)
  • *Make necessary referrals to Early Childhood Services programs and other early childhood and prenatal programs.  Follow-up with parents by post card and phone calls.
  • *Coordinate the purchase of supplies  to sites as needed
  • Ability to work flexible hours.
  • Is dependable and punctual regarding scheduling and attendance.
  • Displays a courteous and caring attitude at all times to the clientele, volunteers, and visitors of the Agency.
  • Cooperates and collaborates with agency and collateral staff.
  • Abides by all specific program and Agency procedures, policies, and requirements.
  • Develops personal and program related skills through participation in internal and external training   opportunities including printed material and audio and/or visual media.
  • Performs other program related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Academic experience in social work or related field.
  • At least 19 years of age
  • Spanish language preferred but not required.
  • Valid driver’s license/ acceptable driving record
