Job Description

A small town near Cedar Rapids is in search of a Robotics Engineer to join their team.
The ideal Robotics Engineer will utilize their knowledge of electrical, electronic circuitry and mechanical engineering to develop robotic systems! In this position you will be working closely beside engineers to design, test, improve, and manufacture automated mechanical equipment and its components.
                                                                                                         
Robotics Engineer Key Accountabilities:
  • Integrate robotics with peripherals, such as welders, controllers, or other equipment
  • Make system device lists or event timing charts
  • Investigate mechanical failures or unexpected maintenance problems
  • Design end-of-arm tooling
  • Design a prototype to manage, build and keep a timeline of new robotic weld fixturing
  • Analyze and evaluate robotic systems or prototypes
  • Install, calibrate, operate, or maintain robots
  • Conduct research on robotic technology to create new robotic systems or system capabilities
  • Configure and test new robot cells
  • Document robotic application development, maintenance, or changes
  • Provide technical support for robotic systems
  • Supervise, technologists, technicians, or other engineers
  • Review or approve designs, calculations, or cost estimates
  • Write algorithms or programming code for ad hoc robotic applications
  • Create back-ups of robot programs or parameters
  • Process or interpret signals or sensor data
  • Plan mobile robot paths and teach path plans to robots
  • Conduct research into the feasibility, design, operation, or performance of robotic mechanisms, components, or systems
 
Robotics Engineer Education:
  • Bachelor Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering with concentration on Robotics preferred
  • 4 years of engineering experience in manufacturing environment utilizing robotic technology and applications

Robotics Engineer Knowledge In:

  • Practical application of engineering science and technology
  • Circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software
  • Design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models
  • Machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
  • Arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications
  • Raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques 
  • Prediction of physical principles, laws, their interrelationships, and applications
  • Structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar
  • Principles and methods for curriculum/training/teaching/instructions
  • Business management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, HR modeling, leadership technique
  • Production methods, and coordination of people and resources
  • Principles and processes for providing customer and personal services
